Not such a happy story, but definitely a freak accident. My neighbor and his wife were on a long ride on their separate Goldwings when a bear came onto the freeway. Jennifer hit the bear, was thrown off her bike and into a semi, and killed... with Dave right there for the whole thing.
This was about a year and a half ago... Dave does still have a couple motorcycles and ride them pretty regularly.
