Got this idea from another forum...

For those of you who travel by plane, there may be some new changes in security. Everyone is sick of getting to the airport 2 hours early just to wait in security lines. They came up with a proposal and will meet later next month.

The proposal includes allowing the following in your carry-on bags:

Scissors
Razor Blades
Knives under 5"
Ice Picks
Bow and Arrows

Part two of the proposal is about letting certain people through the security check points without being screened. Those people include:

Members of Congress
Airline Pilots
Cabinet Members
Governers
High Ranking Military Officials

Question:

Would you rather have them keep security the way it is or change it resulting in faster wait time?

all security issues need to be taken into consideration...with all the stuff going on it needs to stay the same or make it even more secured.

This is going to be a big debate on this thread. :2cents:

I dont fly anymore, (im scared of flying...too many hairy helecopter flights and bad flights in the airforce i guess) so I really dont have an opinion on security since i havnt seen the inside of an airport in a long time....

but a good friend and co-worker, Janise Lasden, was on flight #11 out of boston on 9/11 going on vacation :angelhap: ,,,so any thing they do to prevvent that from ever happening again, im for it....

Sorry to hear that Jack. :angelhap:

IMO, TSA's intentions are good, but they need a lot more training....especially in the common sense dept.
:withstupi

SV there is no reason it will get bad...

I used to work airport security.. TSA is basically a joke.. they make minimum wage - what do you expect for that? You have bargain basement security personel with zero training and you will get what you pay for.. I actually worked for Wayne county and my job was to run security at all the gates going into secured areas, all the doors going into secure areas, the perimeter of the terminals and if there was an incident then it was our job to lock down all access to a certain area, etc. I think back then security was a little better.. I might still be doing it but Wayne county saw us as un-necessary overhead and cut us laying off alot of people.. we always considered the people running the xray machines as scabs of the security industry and not very proficient at their job.. maybe since 911 they have improved that but I doubt it.. I have seen a few airports around the world and let me tell you other than Cuba, which was a runway (for take off and landing) and some tin and Dallas Fort Worth which is a joke - Detroit Metro is a sesspool of the airline industry.. Oh yeah and oh boy Northwest is about to declare bankruptcy again.. What a joke.. I flew American to PV and I tried to upgrade to first class and you know what they told me - no unless you have miles??!?!?!? I said what?!??!? You won't take my money? What a joke. I said next time you need the government to bail you out I am voting against it. Also wtf is the deal with no meals on any flights? MFP.. Not even peanuts! They used to have some half ass meal and now nothing - a no "frills" flight - fug that.. complete bs.. A mfr has to eat.. I hate airlines, air travel, airports and anything related - I drive whenever possible and avoid the airlines at all costs.. I am not too sure about their maintenance either - I know they try anything and everything to cost cut that shiiit too - um hello this is 200 people's lives - tell MacGyver to go home, put the tin foil, duct tape and bubble gum away and fix it right!

I think the second part of the perposed plan is good. The only time I have been checked at the airport is when I have been on offical military orders. Every time I have orders I get checked. Part of it is the fact that a third party payed for the ticket and most of the time its a one way ticket.

Again...bottom line is this...since 9/11...nothing is what it use to be....people might hate the idea of being at the airport 2hrs before your flight...however look at it this way...and I have said this in another forum as well....people say flying is the safest sort of transportation these days.....however I disagree...at anytime can something go wrong....people are always coming up with different ways of smuggling something on to planes.....I would say its better to keep security where it is....and keep the process of making sure everyone is checked out.....then you end up boarding a plane thinking your safe...thinking nothing bad is going to happen...and then the person sitting next to you...it might be loved one, a friend...or even just someone you just met.....they very well might be the last person you ever see....BE SAFE, not stupid!
