I'm out cruising around for an hour or so before heading to the fair to see the toothless Def Leppard fans in all their glory waiting in line for funnel cakes.
Even when a light is green, I look both ways b/c you just really can't trust anyone on the roads. The problem with this particular intersection is that there's a bridge going across the middle of it. It's hard to explain, but there's no way to see the traffic coming from the right. I'm probably 50 yards away and my light is green. As I get closer, a car blows through the red light across my path. I slowed a bit, and then as I'm approaching the intersection, another car is coming through. The lady, near as I can tell, didn't have her hands even on the steering wheel. I guess that, along with seeing the redlight that had been red for at least 10 seconds, would have interupted her rhythm as she danced away from the driver's seet.
I've always been good in situations like that and never panic, and that probably saved me here. But, I just remember going through a check list in slow motion.. "Move right. Helmet, check. gloves, jacket, check. Boots, check. Pants. . ****, nope. Jeans. This is gonna hurt." I got the bike stopped and out of the way in plenty of time, and I wasn't shaking or even scared. Just extremely pissed off and I realy wish I would have chased that dumb bitch down.
I love riding on the street, but sonofabitch, there are definitely safer hobbies. :bonk:
