I hadn't decided which bike to take to the VIR track day till the last minute. I had the 998 all wired up and track body but, I really wanted to take the new Gixxer.
Sat. morning I found myself safety wiring the Gixxer and I was off for the track Sunday. :bonk:
I took two whole sessions just to get the feel for the beat before I started to turn up the heat. I never cut it loss all the way, all day. This bike has so much power its really hard to control the will spin exiting a corner. :help: VIR is famous for its elevation changes and two nasty off camber corners on the north course. Every time I tried to roll on the power through 7 & 14, the Power would spin. :yikes: It takes real control to keep a big bike under you at speed in those corners.

I think there was only five bikes farming today. One was a chick on a 05 Gixxer 600 that took a nasty spill on 14 and another almost made me  (see attachments). He went down hard on turn 1. :bash:
I think he was jinxed from the start. Something about his trailer and he had to rent on from U-Haul. When he got to the track, while unloading his bike. Something happened to a strap, and BAM the bike is on its side with a broken fairing.(first pic) Then mid day, the bike down on the track.

That's why they call turn 7 unofficially "high-side hill." Glad to hear you had fun. VIR is an incredible course. We'll be down there tomorrow night through Monday night for the big FUSA weekend.

That's a good name for it. Every bike I have ever saw go down on the hill was a high side except one. I think he low sided off the inside gaiter.

More Pics

The first is Jeff (my normal ridding buddy) on his 954, Josh on the ZX-7 (Jeff's 14 year old soon) and me.
We are teaching Josh how to ride. Few more track days and I think he may start teaching us!
