Just saying hello and in search of advice/suggestions...I've been wanting a sport bike for quite sometime, now that gas is outrageously expensive, its a prefect excuse to get rid of one the cars and get a bike....What do you guys suggest as a good starter bike (I'm 5'2 and 117lbs), something used (or no more than 10K) fairly reliable is always a plus...Thanks in advance :dthumb:

There's lots of posts on here about that, search around a little and you'll find ltos of info. In a nutshell, look at Suzuki SV650, Kawasaki Ninja 500, or perhaps a Honda Hawk 650, or a Suzuki GS500. Buell has some nice short bikes too.

Most important, look up an MSF course (motorcycle safety foundation) and take it, you get lto learn on little bikes which are supplied for you.

For a good beginners' bike you won't spend anywhere near 10 grand. Take a look around. There are numerous threads on starter bikes. Like pickle.of.doom said above take a look at the Kawasaki Ninja 500r and the Suzuki GS500f. If you want to get reviews on either of those bikes or any other bike you may be interested in visit www.epinions.com and type the bike you are looking for in the search inquiry.

Im new myself but what I can tell you is that you must take the MSF course and you shouldnt need anything bigger than a 600. I have a 600 and that thing is plenty fast for me and the course taught me great stuff that I hope to someday start using like dont look at the ground when you are in a turn. Oh yeah beware of the cagers with phones. Any who, thats my :2cents:

:welcome: :twfrox:

And dont forget the gear.

The ZIP should be 85257 (this would be my neck o' the woods also :D) I drive by that shop on the way home from work everyday I try to catch a glimpse of teh Gixxers and R6's but those are usually inside  Dont forget you'll have to pay for tax and title! that costs a few hundred more or so.

I checked out the Ninja and the Suzuki GS500 this weekend, from the looks of things I think the Ninja maybe the way to go...I wasnt crazy about the Suzuki at all! I dont think I need anything bigger than 600!

I've already got all the gear I need, my helmet could use a paint job though, its been sitting in the garage getting moved from corner to corner for the past year and a half or so!

Once again, thanks for the welcome, this seems like a really cool place
