Z06 @ 500+ HP??? Not so sure about that. Unless modified. GM reports 500HP in their data which means odds are its under 500 by a few. We do alot of work with GM Powertrain and I was over there a week ago and one of the engineers was doing some Dyno testing for clutch plates in the Z06. It is a bad ass car and sounds sweet though! Several improvements planned for '07MY which could potentiall push the Z06 to 575+ HP. The Z06 is getting a new Trans (6L80) which can handle more torque and better over all transmission than the current trans.

Damn I want one!

GM rates motor at 505 HP.
Talked with Dave Hill chief engineer for Corvette last night, he said 505 HP is min HP rating. You will see dyno numbers in 520-525 range.
Hope those 07 numbers are true.

I also heard a rumor that this engine will be made available as a crate engine from GM performance parts. Anyone know if this is true? If so that would be the ideal small block transplant motor.

All of the info I read on it makes me  . Titanium intake valves, sodium filled exhaust valves, and the muffler on the vette has a WOT dump valve. That will sound sweet. :dthumb:

I want one of those. Jetski, how about we trade. I'll take your Z06 and you can have my I4 from my Cavalier?

Who thinks I'd me nutz to put a Z06 in the Cavalier? I was told by three chevy dealers it is possible, along with other body & car performance shops. They said I'd have to push the firewall back like 8-12 inches though.!

LOL Of course Hill will say over 500. It just sounds good. On paper (to the public they will say that), yet hte results on the Dyno and data is what presents the truth. LOL BUt hey at 497 or 500+ we can agree its one bad ass machine. Working and have prototyped some things for performance clutch plates for '07 which would be used in both standard and Z06's. I am in transmissions, but we link and test for valadition with their prototype engines. Pretty cool stuff to see if your an auto guy. And amazing to see the clutch packs react under so much torque without burning up friction material.

Don't like the vettes. I like the olde ones, like stingrays and earlier. I don't particularly care for the new ones, I think they are kinda :gary: looking.

I love the Stingrays, but also love the new C6. Just an overall Vette fanatic. If I were asked if I would like a Vette or Cavalier....think you know my answer LOL. GM looses margin on every Cavalier sold. Just like Ford and the Focus. Its a base, beginner vehicle used to lure young buyers in and keep them as customers, with hopes they upgrade through models and end up in high end vehicles eventually. BUt ya gotta start somewhere.
Problem with LS7 in Cavalier, the cassis would NEVER be able to handle the torque and power of that monster engine, let alone the little 4 speed trans (this I promise you)

Nah man, what I probably would've done is just keep the body from the Cav and find a chasis that'll hold the torque. The tranny, it would've been replaced with a racing tranny. I know the stock one won't handle it, it can't even handle the power of the I-4! It's pathetic actually. I would go buy another GM car, since I was financed through GMAC it's like a guarenteed approval anyways, but their stuff is way so overpriced. I mean the pickup that I was looking at was $35000 and that was not even fully loaded. That's ridiculous. The Toyota that I was looking at was $25K and that WAS fully loaded!

:skep: Most manufactures will publish their best numbers...not the min numbers! Think about...

Yes LS7 will be crate engine
Vette does have straight pipe valve which kicks in at 3500 RPM.
Tried to get engineer who brought new Z06 over for Vette CI. To kick in straight pipe, he would not  but said it was loud.
