does anyone here have any scars from crashes or just stupid mistakes, etc. caused by their bike or riding? i have one on my right calf about 2 inches wide. it's a funny story, really.

i had my bike not more than a few weeks when it happened. i had finished riding and parked the bike out back. it was a summer day and i had gone in to change clothes (shorts of course), then i went down and pulled the bike in the shed. as i was getting off, didn't i lay my calf right on that blazing hot stock exhaust can! that puppy blistered instantly! i burned myself good! i had to wear a gauze bandage on it for about 2-3 weeks. it didn't want to stop seeping. it looked terrible, i even got asked if i just got a tattoo because of the bandage i had on it. i was forced to fess up about my stupidity. that is a mistake i will only make once, that's for sure! it has healed nicely since, and i now only have a slight discoloration and difference in skin texture to show for it. but the mental scars remain!

moral of the story: wear your gear even when just parking the bike in the shed.

Both my knees are scared from a crash on a duel sport wearing jeans. I also have a nasty looking scar and pins in my right leg (knee) from two high speed crashes. That pretty well was the end of my racing but still love doing track days.

Hope this doesn't turn into one of those "worthless without pics" threads.

15 years ago, I was pulling out of a parking lot, didn't see the sand, and was leaned over pretty heavy when I hit it, and low sided. I now have a back spot, 1 sq inch on my knee. I guess I should have gone to a hospital to get it cleaned out.

Got one 2-3 inch gash(now just a spot w/ no hair) on each shin,just above the boot(so conveinently) from a nice sharp set of XR 250 pegs! You know,when you get squirrely on a dirt bike in the thick woods,those pegs always seem to find your shins/knees,even all twisted up w/ the bike like a pretzel,in a solid thick thorn bush...ahhh those were the days:cheers:

Does a hurt ego count? I had a minor get off three years ago the very first time I took my bike out. I had passed my MSF the year prior and bought my first bike that winter. I took it out the first day, rode a bit, and all was well until I attempted a U-turn. I was practicing on an industrial road a block over from my house. I attempted to do a U-turn and ran wide, right into the curb. I didn't trust my bike, didn't turn my head through the turn, and target fixated on the curb. I was more embarrased than hurt because there were people out on their back porch when I went over.

I layed down an intruder about 5 yrs ago but was able to throw my leg around and ride on top till we hit a curb. A small scuff on backside of hand, bike took the brunt of it. Picked it up and rode it home though! I think the biggest thing is knowing what went wring and getting confidence back!

i had a burn from my dads cruiser about 8 years ago from the blazing hot chrome exhaust.
I had a minor hurt ankle when I took the dive in TN last year but that all healed up.
I had a bad trajity on a 4 wheeler once if that counts. I was going straight up a 10 foot hill when the four wheeler flipped me off backwards and I landed on my back on the bottom of the hill. I opened my eyes and saw the four wheeler coming down on top of me. I don't know why but I stuck my arms up to try to break the fall.:crazy: :dupe: the four wheeler broke my wrist then continued to roll back on top of me. The handlebars smashed down on my throat and lucky me didn't smash my wind pipe, but left a hell of a internal bruise.
I looked back and then saw the four wheel sitting on it's two front tires with the throttle stuck wide open. I said OH SH!T!! and rolled over on my broken wrist then the four wheeler went screaming by me. That would have ran me over if I didn't roll out of the way.

Damn, i hate shin hits. I've done it plenty trying to grind rails on my rollerblades.

yeah really, and I've never been back on another four wheeler since then. I feel safer on two wheels, or even one wheel at that!
