I got the game when it came out at the end of last month. Just played on X-Box Live yesterday. ITs pretty fun! A refreshing change from the games AI. Most people on there are from Jolly old England or Italy. IT was nice to speak some Italian with some real Italiano's. Im a bit rusty, but I hung in with them. Anyway, the point I am making is that its pretty cool. So, anybody else playing Moto GP3 on XBL? my user name is: snadamo We should race sometime!

Damn, I've been freakin waiting for it to come out. I had no clue it was out already. I know the PS2 version is coming out in a month or so. I'll have to figure out a place to pick that up, either locally or M/O

I'm waiting for rental. I've read a lot of negative comments towards it's new play style, seems many think it's more unforgiving in it's attempt for more accuracy. Even the salesperson at my local gameshop gave it a thumbs down over Moto GP 2.

I think Snadamo, you're the first I've read that likes it. Will be interested in hearing your opinion of the game.

Well, as far as unforgiving, they are right as rain. I have GP1 and its a whole different ball game. It can get difficult to control. However, the more you play, the better you get. So first impressions might be slightly biased. I kept low siding in turn 1 of almost every track because some AI jackass (Usually Rossi :D) cut into my line and made me lose control. But then you get the feel of it and work around. Then there are the power slides (which you can adjust the sensitivity of, great feature).
After I solved my low side issue, I started to high side all the time. I adjusted the powerslide sensitivity to my liking and so more frequent highsides. Also, you can adjust simple to intermediate bike settings (such as wheelbase, suspension, tires, etc) that will help you out. That is another good thing about the game, it gives you the ability to change your bike settings. I was having top speed issues, so I adjusted the gear ratio multiplier and got the results I was looking for.

Mind you that in GP1&2, those were the 500cc bikes. Now its obviously 1000cc and the handling and control and speed and feel are different. You couldnt take that turn the same on a 500cc as you do on the liter's. This would sway players on one side saying the controls suck. Not really, they just need to practice more. Good example of what I am trying to explain: I am stuck on Champion Difficulty and Cannot seem to keep the rubber side up or hand with the pack for that matter. People are suggesting shortening wheelbase and get medium or hard tires for more top speed. Handling goes WAY down, but you still hang with the front of the pack that way.

If you are looking for a more arcade mode, try the "Extreme Mode". Not only does it handle more like the previous games, you can also buy parts for your bike (stage 1,2,3 intervals) It starts to be a challenge once you get into the pro and champion difficulty settings.

I say rent it out and try it, but I warn you, practice makes perfect in the game. They have tutorials in the game to help, but the hardest part is your racing lines. Every track is different and you need to know how to take each corner properly if you want to win.

Other gameplay features include create a rider. I enjoy the fact that you can create your own rider and customize the crap out of him. You can add decals with text all over the rider leathers and the bike. It gives you the option to create your own rider logo which is neat.

As far as graphics and such, they are pretty damn good. The bikes are super detailed down to the decals. The tracks are nice enough that you dont really notice them The sense of speed can get crazy over 190mph

Sounds are what you would expect from a racing game. Repetitive. But its got Dolby 5.1 so that makes it cooler. The soundtracks are lacking, but you can use your personal soundtrack on your X box instead. Racing to Metallica's ...And Justice for All album is much more fun :D!

Online play like I said is neat, but its too early for a sturdy scoreboard foundation and all that other jazz

Final note is that I have been extremely frustrated with the game as of late. I cant get that first race of the season in champion out of the way. I crash out or the pace is just way too fast. Ive been tweaking the bike to make it faster (kinda fun to do BTW) and testing it out. I qualified 3rd so I dont have too much traffic before turn 1. I think its a great game to have, and I got it for only $40 as opposed to the usual $50. Rent it first if your a little :skep: skeptical, but if you practice, I think you would be pleased.

Overall I give it an 8.6 out of 10

I like the game, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion

hope that works for you guys

Ya know, as much as i've played my comp games online..and i'm even ashamed to admit this... I've NEVER played one ps2 or xbox game online. I don't know why, I even have a cable connection. Do you have to pay a monthly for xbox live or do you just need to buy the modem hookup?

they offer a 3 month for $35, and 12 month subscription for $50 + the prehiperals such as a headset. They used to have month to month, but that all changed when 360 came out. If you get a 360 you need to transfer your account to a silver or gold account. Personally I did a 12 month for $50. ITs easy to set up. However, if you dont play other game onliine (like Halo 2, madden, NHL, etc) then its not worth the money. I got XBLive with Halo 2 and so far its the best time consumer I own, other than my bike :D

Is PS2 the same way?
I still haven't played the new GP on PS2. If your asking about the on-line connection. Yes and no, The old PS2's have to have an upgrade or external kit. The new PS2's have it built in.

I mean is it the same in the fact that you have to pay a monthly subscriber fee on top of your cable connection?

mostly no. PS2 is generally free. However, you get what you pay for sometimes. In other words, server structure/gameplay can get bad on PS2 and my main guess is since its free, funding for maintenance is minimal. Xboxlive is pretty sound. I really havent had many connectivity issues with XBL, and its pretty steady. Tehre are some games that requre a subsription fee to handle the maintenance. The only game to mind that I can think of that does this is Everquest on PS2, but Ive never played it. Im a cheap bastard

I think I know what youre getting at P.O.D. You are probably waiting for moto gp4 on PS2 to play online (like me :D ), right?

Im sure its going to be free if its online, but dont mark my words or anything

Generally speaking, yes I like XBL a lot. But who knows how the PS2 game is going to play out.
