I know Gas Man will have a lot to say about this one. I have used it before a few times and didn't really see a big difference.

Does anyone use it on the strip or on the track on track days?? Or just on the street?

I use to use it once in a while at the race track in a 50/50 mixture, it did smell real nice but i think thats about all it did...ive used it at the dragstrip on stock bikes with absolutly no increase in mph or lower ets...basicly if your bike doesnt need it, due to a high compression engine then all your gonna get out of it is a nice smelling exhaust and a waste of money.......

I had to use it on my gsxr1100 with the 1186 pistons, head work etc, when i was running nos to prevent detonation at the dragstrip, and if i planned on using nos on the street i would use a 50/50 mixture whenever i could...

I agree with jack. 90% will run better on 89 then 110. When I was setting my TL motor up it was dynoed to get the peak power. 110 was the best for only because after adding the V-two kit it bumped the compression of 13.5 to 1. That was a killer bike 116hp stock 5K later it made 136 hp @ the rear. Now R6 was dynoed and it makes its best power on 89 the lead in the 110 fuel with waste the carbs. But that is what I heard from the person that built the motor.

Race gas is a waste of money unless ....

A) You have a motor with increased compression over stock. This will require race gas because you need the higher octane so as not to detonate the hell out of your motor. Or if you're trying to find no-mans land on ignition timing advance - octane will help here, depending on how far you go.

or ...

B) You're buying oxygenated race gas and are mapped/jetted for it. You can buy race gas with anywhere from 2.5% to 10% oxygen in it. On the dyno, you remap/jet for this - more fuel (richer map/jetting) + more air (in the fuel) = more power. Of course, oxy race gas *starts* at about $10 a gallon (and goes up from there).

If you have a stock street bike, you can actually lose HP running race gas as the higher octane and burn characteristics (mainly the speed) are not right for the motor. If you run oxy fuel without remapping, you can be way too lean and burn up your pistons. Also, most race gas is leaded - if your bike has a cat converter on it, you will burn it up.

Put in what your manual tells you to!

Thanks for the info Brian.
Trust me ... I *wish* I could run pump gas in my TZ250 GP bike. It's a '96 motor which has leaded heads and ignition, and on top of that the current setup has compression where I need at least 105 octane. As a powermist dealer, I'm paying $7 a gallon for T111 race gas .... :sob:

I see a lot of Harley's getting 100 octane at $4.50/gal. at the BP station, but I buy the 91, which is high-test up here. I once put 87 or regular in my GS 1000, and it pinged going up every hill. The Phillips stations have 6 cents off high-test every Tues. and Fri.

I totally agree Brian/Speed....

The lowest octane you can run w/o pre-ignition is the best! It will 99% of the time create more power that way.

And yes, if you take your stock GSXR to the pump and put the 110 in it, you will most likely create less hp!!

DON'T WASTE YOUR CASH!!! Send it to me...

Unless you engine needs it. IE the TL
Yeah, if you say so! 95% of the time it is a complete waste if not hurt more than it helps!

2Fury, I have no idea what you "thought" you were reading...
