Hey Everyone,

If any of you are heading in that direction, *please* be careful. It looks like some TUCKFARD(S) are screwing with the turns down there, trying to get someone hurt/killed. Below is a post from one of the other boards I visit. It's second hand info at this point, but since I've seen Killboy involved fairly heavily with Gap info before, I'm guessing it wouldn't be too hard to verify if needed.

Some idiots decided to fill some glass containers up with motor oil and
break them at the middle of a few corners on the Gap sometime last
night/this morning. This did cause a few incidents (one of which we help go
down the mountain to get). Then to make matters worse, someone had the
idea that pouring fine-grained sand all over the oil would soak it up..
(try kitty litter, it actually works). This meant we now had
micro-sized well-lubricated marbles in the middle of corners to ride on, but at
least it was better than just sheer oil. Even one of the bike-mounted
deputies nearly lost it on one spot earlier in the day. The first few
rains are only going to make matters a lot worse... Anyone going up
there, car or bike, will need to be really careful. Someone (Darryl?) put
a few markers including some orange flags and some bunched up trees,
etc. near some of the sites but there are a few that aren't marked and
those markers may disappear tonight.

My idea? If they find/catch the people who did it, we take them to the
Tree of Shame at CRoT and hang them by the neck until dead. After all,
they tried to kill us AND our 'horses' and as far as I know some of
those laws are still on the books...

Btw, Darryl, if you want the pics of the GSX-R 750 (rider is okay) and
the Harley from last night let me know.

(still growling over this)...

Yeah I put the flags up and spent the whole day sweeping and running a
leaf blower to get the sand off the road. (took the flags down when I
came home tonight because they will get snatched otherwise) It was
actually in pretty good shape by the end of the day...all the sand was
gone, there were still dark spots in the road, but they weren't very slick
and not in bad locations. I made a 10 minute pass southbound on the
bike (overlook to state line) with no slips or suprises, but I knew where
the "spots" were and took it a little easy there.

I tried using a wand torch on the spills for the first time this
morning before the TDOT guys came in with a DUMP TRUCK and dumped sand on the
oil, but the torch didn't work too well. The sand actually worked
really well, and it's way cheaper than oil dry, it just needed to be
scrubbed in a little then blown off the road.

TDOT's procedure is to leave the oil and let traffic work it in, but I
think they are supposed to post signs prior to the spill to warn
traffic. I wonder if the guys that crashed due to the sand in the road could
lobby TDOT to cover their costs.

Best Regards,
Darryl Cannon

Damn... that sucks big time... Time for the locals to start hangin out in the bushes at night.... with spiked baseball bats!

There's some dickknob out here, lives right by Hell, always sweeps gravel into the corner in front of his house.... first corner west of Hell, right by Hankerd rd. He has even admitted he f's with the road to the local newspaper in a letter he wrote complaining about the noise from bikes all summer long.

I will bet IT IS the locals doing these things because they don't like people racing up and down the roads

I don't know about that....not to question you but when we were out there last year, you could tell who was local and who wasn't. The locals were flying down those roads in there cages. I don't think they'd do it...maybe, not saying they wouldn't, but doing that could screw them up too. I was in my truck the one day following a guy in a truck and we were hauling arse. No doubt he was from there. This things was all hillbillied out!!!! Anyway, they rip threw there pretty good. Probably just some smart arses or something.

I tell ya this..that Killboy guy is awesome for doing all of that on his own!!
I have seen Darrel bring a broom and sweep sand and gravel out of the road on more than one occasion. :dthumb: :pat: :angelhap:

He is a great asset to the Gap enthusiasts.
I encourage everybody that goes to the Gap to buy a few Pic's from Killboy to help keep his enthusiasm. :2cents:
