I've done both and will again in the future.

I have a blast at both.

Don't assume. :tt:
I am not assuming, I have been to massive biker get togethers. Honda Hoot anyone??? Yeah, that's in Knoxville. They are lame, very lame. If I wanted to look at bikes, I would go to a dealership. If I wanted to get piss ass drunk and then ride around like a jackass on my bike in front of a lot of people, the UT strip would be a good place to do that as well, but I would rather shoot myself in the head first. Plus, Daytona is a dirty nasty hellhole.

Didn't you just get your bike? When have you been to the gap on your bike? Totally different experience then in enormously too wide vette for that road.

There is actually more to Bike Week than that, though. I can tell ya, I haven't ventured down Main Street (where all the drunks on chrome are  ) in at least 3 years. There's plenty to do at the Speedway (Daytona 200 anyone?).

Not saying it's the same as riding the Gap (one of these years we'll get up there  ), but it's not at all the same sort of event either. You're comparing apples to oranges. :idk:

(but Daytona IS a nasty dirty hellhole for the most part  )

It's a lot like the hoot with a racetrack. I would rather spend my money on indy or laguna for a race, barber and RA would be some of my other choices before daytona.

Yes you are assuming. I've been to the Honda Hoot once...yep it WAS lame. Daytona has more than just the bikes...they have parts...gear...etc. You can check out different new bikes and ride them if you want. We're going to the Daytona 200...it's fun riding your bike into the infield to check it out...the wife wants to do that too...all of this is new to her. The wife has never been to Daytona and we're going together.

Yes I just got this bike but it's not my first. I've owned 7 or 8 sportbikes and have been to the gap more than once. My wife isn't ready to take on the dragon so if I go back there it will be with guys like in the past.

I have family and friends in Florida so there's more to our trip than just Bike Week but that's a big part of it.

I've owned American v-twins too so yes I even like the Harley's and the customs that will be there too.:yikes:

Also for your info my Vette isn't too wide for the road if you know how to freakin' drive...HOWEVER I've never even had it at the gap although I have had other cars there.

We'll probably catch a cab to some of the bars and do some drinking too...it's fun mixing it up with different type people...sportbikers and Harley riders. It's usually only the know it all closed minded smartazzes that I usually have a problem with. :redevil:

To each their own.

You know all those reasons beside the 200 and family is the same as the hoot. You can get parts, gear, and ride new hondas. Well at the hoot, you get rides to the dragon/skyway/other badass roads. So final round goes to the hoot.

The Vette is a bad car for the dragon and yes I have heard people who know how to drive it and know the road a billion times better in cages than you say a vette is a bad car for that road.

I like the crowd in Daytona better than the crowd at the hoot. I can go to the dragon and "other badass roads" around NC...SC...and TN. quicker...easier and more often than I can go to Daytona since I live in NC.

It's a treat to go to bikeweek to kick off riding season and get spring fever plus we can't go as often since Daytona is 500 miles away.

I didn't say the vette was the best car for that particular road...I just said it isn't too wide if you know how to friggin' drive it. If you know how to stay on your side of the yellow lines...I'll stay on mine.

I'm a car guy first that happens to like bikes too. I've attended several track days and driving schools in cars and admit...I'm better in a car than on a bike. I work in executive protection for a bunch of high rollers and one of my fringe benefits:drool: is testing highend cars that I can't afford but get to drive and give my opinion to these guys with deep pockets so again...I'm confident in my driving abilities. I'm also the personal driver for the CEO so see...that's just what I do.

Again I say...to each their own.

I don't trust other people to have the same lack of taste that I do.
