PROVIDENCE -- A five-page typed contract that sent Babe Ruth from the Red Sox to the Yankees will be auctioned off Friday.

Rhode Island philanthropist Alan Shawn Feinstein said proceeds from the sale will go to America's Second Harvest, a charity that provides food for the needy.

The valuable document is for sale at Sotheby's, the famed auction house in midtown Manhattan.

Sotheby's said the contract is in excellent condition. Experts expect it to go for at least $500,000.

After sending Ruth to the Yankees in 1919, the Red Sox wouldn't win a World Series until last year. But the Bronx Bombers went on to win 26 championships.
