They are a great thing to have. I also know that if you sign up for their free newsletter, you can also save an extra 5% from now till Dec 31st. :D

Yep, I have one!! And it comes with 2 hook ups. One that you put onto the + & - of your battery while it's in your bike, and then run this nice cord over to a spot in the tail fairing that allows you to "plug" you bike in! VERY NICE setup!! The other is just a set of gator claw things to hook up a battery like a normal charger!

This also helps on cold startups! When it's cold and your not riding that much. You plug the bike in and when you have to start up your bike, you know it has a full charge!

Ok, so is this to use if you plan to store your bike? I live in Cali where I can ride as long as it doesn't rain so would this be of use to me? I am thinking about getting one from the local dealer for $25 but wanted to get some more info on this.

How often should this be used to charge the battery and is it a hassle to keep connecting and disconnecting the wires?

It's not a hassle to connect and disconnect...you can hook up the bike cord and run it to a opening in your fairings...just hook it up and leave it.

But don't think of a battery tender as a battery charger...it's not! It's a maintainer. If you ride your bike regulary, more than twice a week. I wouldn't see a a need for it!

But the website even says its a charger "Home of the the World's Most Advanced Battery Charger!"

Well my battery died on me last week and I have no clue how old it is. I jump start the bike and its running now. When a battery dies, is it short of a full charge or does it have no charge? And since it died, does that mean my bike is not doing its job at charging the battery, or does that mean the battery needs replacement? If I do use battery tender to bring my battery back to full charge, does that mean it will be able to maintain its charge as long as a new battery? or will it eventually just die on me again?

I can see how the battery tender would keep a new battery running strong but what benefits are there in using it on an old battery? If its my battery that needs to be replaced, then using battery tender on my present battery is like jumping starting my bike every time unless using battery tender will actually cause my battery to hold its full charge longer.

Well, I believe they make a actual battery charger...but battery tender junior isn't really a charger.

As far as your problem, I would suggest getting a new battery! If you want to ATTEMPT to bring your old arse battery back to full charge use a full blown car battery charger, then a battery tender jr to maintain it.

However, I say everybody should change their bike batteries every other year! Reason being that bikes don't have alternators. They have stators, which is a newer version of a old school generator. Basically they SUCK goat nads!! And by doing what I'm talking about, keeps you from being caught at the store with a dead MC batt...

Get a new battery and a battery tender junior...then you'll be good!! I'm Gas Man and that's it!!
