One of the WOS members that travels for work was actually at that race in Japan. He has a DVD of it from his own camera. I believe he was on turn 2 or 3. He said it was great but VERY long....
Ya i love the TT. Those races were probably the main reason i got into bikes in the first place. i've watched the TT for years but have to admit i havn't been much into it the last couple of years. mainly due to the fact that i always forget when it is and when it's on, and not because of lack of interest.
It's definatly the cream of the crop when it comes to bike racing. a real test of a bikes all round performance and a riders cajones
Very dangerous race.
Rough surfaces, rock walls in the corners, spectators running across the track!
Its great to watch.
I would love to see it in person!
And yeah, it is a great race... The sidecar racers are crazy! I would never be the dude on the sidecar...
The course is grueling, 37 miles or so long... Walls, buildings, crazy fans, jumps.... watching them pull the brakes as hard as they can and still scrape a building on the outside line... The highlights from the 04 TT were on Speedtv just last night...
One of the best motorcycle videos from the 1980's is called "V-Four Victory". It features one (37 mile) lap of the Isle of Mann circuit with a camera mounted to the tank of a 800cc+ Interceptor driven by one of the most accomplished Isle of Mann racer Joey Dunlop. This video is a must for any serious motorcycle enthusiast.
May Mr. Dunlop rest in peace. He was a gentleman and ambassador to the sport.
I deffinately like the Isle of Mann! It doesnt have that galmour that FIM WSB etc. have. I like it like that. I hear ya on the siedcars...LODY! Whenever a rider is going wide open jumping off hills landing on gravel ten feet from a pub, you have to watch.
