I find, when riding and I need to bring an extra helmet, it's almost easier to just get a mesh cargo net and keep it on the back seat, instead of using the helmet locks. I know my old bikes, with the helmet locks, I can never seem to get it on securely enough for my own satisfaction.

I would think the helmet locks would be better, 'cuz you need a key to unlock. With the mesh, you just lift it up. The lock just seems more secure to me. Just my :2cents:

The locks are more secure, and yes, controlled by your ignition key...They are just a pain in the arse to hook a helmet up too, IMO...and I hate having something hanging off the side of my bike like that, just makes me nervous for some reason.

I have seen more than one paint job messed up by a helmet rubbing on the finish. I say wear it or leave it at home. If you have a spare bring a passenger to wear it. :here: :here:

When I had my EX500 I used the net on the seat. But I've hauled one with my helmet lock! Either way sucks!!
