Stand by till its warm enough to idle on its owen.
This will vary as the temp changes.
If you leave it on to long it will die and you can foul plugs this way.
You should have a grasp on this from your dirt bikes.

dont put your helmet on...start the bike up on choke. put your helmet on and then take off, as you ride down the street, youll be able to take the choke off....i never let my bikes sit too long at idle...dont know if thats good or bad, but seemed to work for a lot of bikes ive owned :dthumb:

Ive ridden bikes on choke too. Usually when im late, but i try to avoid it as it makes the shift from N to 1st a clunky one.

I usually let mine run about 3-5 min or so before taking off. I do the same with my car... I hate driving/riding on a stone cold engine. I just start it up and then take my lock off the front wheel, put my house keys and lock under the seat, put my jacket, helmet and gloves on and by that time it's usually at about 110 degrees or so, and I take off. No choke to mess with for me... god I love fuel injection :dthumb:

I use the same method gsxrjack does . I start the bike let it run with choke if it has one untill it idels on its own. 1 min. or so . Then I turn the idel off go inside put my gear on ( 2 or 3 min.) come out & ride
hehe, thats twice as long as i let my street bikes warm up....im bad when it comes to that...i just start em up, let the oil start flowing and im off...i dont beat on it right away (most of the time) but i definately dont let it warm up to temp...now the car, im real carefull about warming it up and making sure oil temp is at least 150 before i hammer it....with the bikes, i just sort of hammer em, but these motors are awesome....just beat on em and they keep on ticking........

my race bikes i definately let them warm up before i went out on the track with em...but thats because once u hit that track, your at redline for the next 15-20 minutes...

I start the bike and let it warm up while I'm putting on my jacket, helmet and gloves. Once dressed, I hop on and go for a ride, but I also don't romp on it right away, either. Of course, I have a fuel injected bike so no choke to screw with. However, on the Katana, I usually just started it with choke, but I was close by while putting on gear and I would adjust the choke as necessary to keep the idle near 1500. Once dressed, I would hop on and ride. I could usually unchoke it within three blocks.
