Ok ppl. This is the second time that this has happen to me and I am bout getting the sh*t$ of it. :banghead:  :helpme: :helpme: :helpme:

The first time it happen to me, Matt and a few others were going to the Carlisle Bike Show and it got pretty hot just sitting there in non-moving traffic and it caused the battery to die. I called the guy I bought the bike from and he told me that it was the orginal battery(5yrs old) and that when the bike gets that hot, over 248, it drains from it thous causing it to die. As it did on me that day. So I got it running later after the bike show when Matt kick-started it and it ran great for me for a few more days till I left the park light on and it drained the battery again. So I go out at from 12:30am till almost 3am by the time I got home and a few trips to Wal-Mart to get the right battery and take the old one with me on the last trip to be sure I go the right one. Long night.

So tonight I am riding(now its been a few weeks and all running fine) and stop and get gas and shut it off. The temp was around 190-200. When I go to start it back up it trys to start but it won't. :( Think of a starter in a car trying to kick over but just won't. It was doing that. It had power but wasn't getting enough to start the bike. I let it sit for a bit to see,try again and I get nothing but the same. No starty. :D So I end up getting enought speed pushing it and kick start it and I am on my way home. :) As soon as I got home I shut it off to see if it will start(hoping the battery got pretty charged riding home)and it did the same thing it did earlier. No starty again.

I am going to take it to the local bike shop tomorrow or thursday to see what they come up with. I am hoping someone can shed some light on this and help me out.

One answer I am looking for is under lined to as if you have heard that before. And if anyone has some insight on the rest, please help me out. I want to get it fixed so it doesn't do it again. I have talked to the BETTER half tonight and got the ok to get the 2004 GSXR1000 I want. :hyper: But I am going to get this fixed and sell it so I don't sell it to someone and it happens to them and get pi$$ed off at me for it.

Thank you all for the info in advance. :D :thanx:

UPDATE...

So now it has been an hour since I got home and anjd I go out to try to start it again just for sh*ts and giggles. Holy cow.....it started. :hyper: At first it souonded like it wasn't going to. It tried to turn over 2 times first before starting on the 3rd. I am now happy and thinking it was just a fluke. So I let it run for about 5 mins and shut it off. Just to see what it is going to do I try to start it again. :banghead: The damn thing will not start. :banghead: It is now doing the same thing it did before. :helpme: Once again, any kind of help will be great. :)

Geez...you've had more bad luck with that bike than good luck....Be sure to let us know what action (local bike dealer/shop) says when they look at it this week.

Well, I won't say that. Not even close to that. The only main thing is or was the battery being old and needing replaced. The other things that happen were caused by me doing a wheelie. All fixed now and good as new. Besides, that was just a few dollors.

Anyways. I called the shop and explained it to them and they told me that it sounded like the charging system. I am taking it to them on Thursday and there going to test it and can tell me what is the problem.

Will let everyone know what the out come is.

Now here is the hard choice I need to try to make. When I sell it, do I get a 2004 GXSR1000 or wait a few months and go for the new 2005. Decisions decisions decisions. LOL :smilelol: I will most likely go get the 2004 and save some money.

Still, if anyone has any other idea on the problem please still let me know. :)

Thanks for the input. When I called my local shop the tech there told me that is also sounded like something in the charging system and they can test it on their machines and find out if it is or not and go from there. I will update everyone about it after I find out. Once again :thanx: for your help. :)

OK I took it to the shop to get looked at and they told me it was the "stator". At first I thought the guy was just pronouncing the word "starter" wrong till I had him write it down for me so I know. Well n ow I looked it up on the net and found it is its own unit in the ele. unit and charging system.

Now...what does it do exactly?? and I am paying abot $300 for the parts and labor and the 30 mins of testing they did to find the problem. Does this sound about right for this stator and gaskets and labor??

Will have it ordered and fixed next week. Left bike there in the shop till then. Driving the cage till then. I hope I remember how it works. :smilelol:

Did they recommend a different battery at all for you?

No. But I think I will get the Suzuki battery to keep it lasting longer then a off the wall market kind. They told me it won't last as long as the factory one would. I know...a whole week of not riding. Damn. I'll be ok in a week. LOL :D
