OK im tired of waiting for the ninja 650r. No one has a clue when its coming. So im considering something else, Buell Firebolt xb12s. Im not one to go very very fast and this bike acutally looks kinda cool with the colored rims etc. This will be my first bike (took MSF course about a mo. ago) I know that some love buell and some hate buell, but im concerned with reliability, control, comfort etc...

any suggestions? guidance?

I wouldn't recommend it as a first bike. The power is very usable and controllable even to a newbie but. The sharp handling is not for a beginner. They are way easy to get out of shape and very hard to get back.

Have you looked at the Blast? Its way better suited for a beginner. :2cents:

I think Jeeps may be onto something but I still think it would make a ok first bike. They are definately a fun bike. But I'm sure you'll find the Jap bikes a bit more forgiving to a newbie rider.

With that said. You will see some more of my :2cents: in My Buell demo day thread from this past summer.

Yeah I understand...and my expierence probably wasn't as good as yours due to the roads I was forced to ride...

But if you think that is bad.... ride a BMW!

The blast seems too small, Im 6'2" and 240
You may be on to something. I just think the big Bulle's are a very aggressive handlings sport bike That takes some experience to control.

Their are way better suited bikes out there and I think you should keep looking.

This was me back in October, I really wanted to wait to see the Ninja, but didn't want to lose out on a chance to get a great 05 SV at an awesome deal. I can't believe it isn't out yet, the guy I talked to said they had em scheduled for delivery on the 12th of november.

I thought the bike was blast to ride. Fun factor! But I didn't like its power band. By the time it got real exciting I was bangin the rev limiter!

Well yes and no... it didn't create enough power down below where you would expect it from the v-twin... so you had to rev it up. But then it would just run out of R's...

The buell, with it's short wheelbase is very nimble...Jeeps is right, a beginner could get into some real trouble with it...And, I can't believe I'm saying this...GasMan is spot on :yikes: about the revs...I got yelled at twice for winding it out when I test rode one...but it doesn't get fun until the valves float...

Maybe you ought to look at the SV 650...99birdv6 had one and it was a great bike...
