Took the wife and dog in my Jeep up to Mt. Evans today. At over 14,000 feet, it's the highest paved road in America or even the world. I used to take my bike up there all the time, until the Forest Service started charging. It's $10 for cars and $3 for bikes. Because of thunderstorms, you want to be off the top by noon. It was 84 in Denver, and 24 (with the windchill) on top.
Slim two-lane, 1000-foot drops, no guardrails, a zillion curves, and frost heaves in places. The views are spectacular with usual sightings of Mountain Goats and Big Horn Sheep. Several years ago, we came across some new Porsche's where they were testing the fuel injection. Today we came across some new Bugatti's. They didn't even drive them there, they were shipped in a moving van. Anyone know what model this is?
