is that every month... six months... year?crazyclown1337 said:Okay last time i spoke to my insurance agent he gave me a number like 150 for liability coverage on an 04 ex250. Today he got back to me about the 05 that I'm looking at here telling me that it has the "racing design" and it will get a surcharge, bringing the total to 900 something for liability only. I asked him why this discrepency is there and he said that the first time i hadn't mentioned it was a "ninja" (i just said ex250) and this time i said kawasaki ninja ex250. bogus huh? he said that if i find an ex250 that is not a ninja it won't get a surcharge and if it is a ninja it will get a surcharge... WTF? :wbs: :wbs: He obviously doesnt know these bikes, but the first time he said there wouldnt be a surcharge after checking with "home office". GAH hopefully it will work out or I might not be getting a bike.....![]()
show him a picture of the ZZR600... you have to lean forward on it yet it's not considered a "race bike"crazyclown1337 said:EDIT: great i just got a discouraging reply:
AS SOON AS I AM CONTACTED BY HOME OFFICE UNDERWRITING I WILL FORWARD AND LET YOU KNOW THEIR DECISION. JUST LOOKING AT THE PICTURE THIS WILL PROBABLY BE CONSIDERED AN INELIGIBLE BIKE AND WILL GET THE SURCHARGE. THE PICTURE SHOWS THE SEAT BACK AND THE OPERATOR WOULD HAVE TO REACH OR LEAN FORWARD TO GET TO HANDLE BARS.
I COULD BE WRONG AND I WILL LEAVE THE FINAL DECISION UP TO AMERICAN FAMILY AND LET YOU KNOW AS SOON AS I GET THE ANSWER.
THANKS FOR YOUR BUSY TIME.
I hope someone over there knows something about motorcycles other than their stereotypes of the "sportbike" and the "cruiser"
ummmm, i may be wrong, but i ride a 250 Ninja right now and it is NOT considered a SUPERbike, actually someone else posted the listing for what type of bike is what somewhere recently, look for that, cuz I believe the bike is only considered a street bike, possibly sport bike, but def not SUPER bike, yeah right, i love my lil Ninja, but PUH-lease....as for insurance, yeah it sucks...but i have full coverage and pay like 900 a year, granted I am married and 24 but still...mine is through progressive...as for leaning, depending on how tall you are, you might not have to lean at all, they sit pretty upright so that is not a standard by any means, i have to lean but my hubby sits straight up like a "bicycle" according to him...crazyclown1337 said:Yeah, I'm 17, which is why insurance is the biggest concern for me, it makes or breaks the deal (why pay 700 dollars a year for a bike thats worth 2000 dollars and youre only gonna keep it for 2 years)
its per year (annual premium)
I think that this home office the first time didn't plug it into a computer or anything, they just saw that its a 250cc and okayed it. When I went in to talk to him it was the addition of a simple checkbox marked "superbike" in his program that changed it from nice and low to ridiculous high.
Sry for the long post, i'm kinda pissed off and ranting...

5K miles is not a lot for a year. I had 13K in my first year. FYI- you can get a new 250 for $3,299. I wish my girl was thinking like you. She doesn't want a 250 even though it's perfect for her. Her eyes are a lot bigger than her riding skills.crazyclown1337 said:Hello everyone!
I'm hoping to get a ninja 250 this season to learn how to ride on. It's been tough finding any 250's, i've checked craigslist, ebay, local classifieds :readng: etc. and I've found one. Its a 2005 250r with about 5000 miles on it. That sounds to me like a LOT of miles for a one year old bike. It includes some extras, The value of which i'm unsure (like jacket, helmet, tires). The seller is asking 2500 for it, and I'm wondering what I should aim to pay on it. I checked the NADA for it and it says 1900 for "low retail price" to 2500 for "average retail price". It seems its in good condition, no scratches or dents. Is 2500 a good deal? should I try to get it for less? how much less? Another I've found is also 2005, different color (blue and orange, which I like slightly less), and it has scratches on the lower fairing. It has about 1500 miles and he's also asking 2500.
Also, is there anywhere I can go that factors in mileage to give me a value for this bike? thanks! :twfrox:
PS: If I want to get a bike checked out mechanically should I take it to a nearby dealer? I've heard you should get it checked out by a mechanic before you buy, but I'm not very mechanically inclined and I don't have any mechanic friends.
hmmm, on that note, my first bike was an '03 600RR,:yikes: after i dropped it a few times (thankfully no damage) i figured out that maybe MY eyes were a lil too big for my britches, but then i found the 250, they are a heaven send for women as well as for newbie's, :angelhap: i learned the basics on it so last night my hubby put the lowering links on the 600 and I got to cruise round on it, it rocks!! soon i'll move up, but I am really grateful i got to learn on it! it was worth the investment and the resale is good too!DLITALIEN said:5K miles is not a lot for a year.
