At an American military airfield in Iraq, work was being done on the runway, but no one had bothered to issue a NOTAM (notice to airmen). Aircraft landing during the day were able to avoid the work site, but a C-130 came in at night on December 29th, hit the work area, and was totalled. There were several injuries among the crew and passengers, but no fatalities.

LOL...they don't do KP anymore in the service. It is all done by an outside company for all the services now. I remember I had to do it when I joined in 93'. Dang it.

Thats got to suck all sorts of something. Now that was a good plane. I used to jump out of those all the time.

Somebody JUST got demoted, maybe even discharged. But I can promise there was more than one person at fault in this incident, no doubt about it. Too many controllers in the tower at once for nobody to have said anything.
