Just in from Todd, Passing along the info...

Greetings All,

We're expecting to have a great event! Here are some last minute
reminders
for this weekend's event at Spring Mountain/Pahrump.

WEATHER

Well it looks like a gorgeous weekend! The latest forecast calls for
temps
around 71 degrees (overnight lows around 45 degrees)! And even though
it
will be pretty nice as the day warms up, remember to take the first
couple
laps to get your tires warmed up since the track temp is going to be
lower
during the first AM session! AVOID COLD TIRE CRASHES!

BIKE KEY

Before leaving for the track, put your bike's ignition key on your tow
vehicle's keychain. Nothing is worse than missing your first 3 sessions
while a local locksmith charges you $100 and takes 2-3 hours to make
you a
new key for your bike.

TIRE PRESSURE

With some of the newer race tires on the market pressures will vary
dramatically. However you are VERY unlikely to run higher "street"
pressures
for a track day with positive results. For most production street tires
and
the DOT race tires from Dunlop, Metzeler, and Pirelli, we suggest 31-32
psi
front and 29-30 psi rear (yes, less in the rear) for track use. For the
new
Michelin Power Race and race PR tires we suggest 30 front and 23 rear
(yes,
we mean 23). For Pilot Powers we suggest 32 front and rear.

PHYSICAL PREPARATION

While you can ride while physically tired, being able to stay mentally
focused on the racetrack is critical to your survival. I encourage you
to
eat a good dinner and get plenty of sleep. When you wake up in the
morning,
do a couple stretches before leaving your hotel room. Remember, you are
going to be getting a workout on the track...be limber and ready for
it!

You've all heard track day providers preach about staying well
hydrated. But
it's important to remember that good hydration starts THE NIGHT BEFORE
the
event..and that alcohol, coffee, tea, and sodas can all dehydrate you.
I
suggest that you LIMIT alcohol any night before a track day and have a
LOT
of water along with any alcohol consumption. We will provide waters and
gatorades for you at the track, so make sure you use it! Our staff will
have
these in coolers near the grid area, so take advantage of it!
(Sorry, the water girls are playing for their soccer teams this weekend
and
needed to make playoffs!)

MENTAL PREPARATION

The most important thing for you racers and advanced riders is to put
in
more seat miles and slowly chip away at your lap times.
For intermediate and novice riders, your focus needs to be on building
your
skills and not riding over your head. Become a smoother and more
skilled
rider and your speeds will improve as a by-product.

Remember, it's going to be warm from 11-2 or so. Be sure you remain
focused
on your riding. If you get fuzzy, do yourself and everyone else on the
track
a favor and take a session to recuperate in your pits. With 30 minute
sessions, you're getting a LOT of track time. PACE YOURSELF!

ADDITIONAL SERVICES

Tire Service: We have in-house tire service for this event with
trackside
pricing and mounting/balancing (off the bike). If you want to plan a
late
afternoon tire purchase/change, you will want to speak to them in the
morning to prepay for the set so you're sure to get what you need. We
are
not some big tire vendor, so supplies are limited. But we try to bring
out a
mix of DOT race tires and "track/street" tires for you to have
available for
purchase.

Fuel: Fill your cans before coming to the track, as there will not be
fuel
at the track. The closest gas station is a few miles north of the track
on
the highway. Fuel cans MUST BE KEPT at the concrete pad near the
flagpole,
and you may ONLY fill your tanks in this area.

Photography: Mike La Putt from Trackday.net will again be with us
providing
his excellent photographic services. See him as the day progresses to
preview your shots!

Suspension Tuning: James Morse and Tige Daane will again be with us to
provide suspension setup and tuning services. Riding a showroom-stock
suspenion? Ack! Come see the suspension guys and dial in the bike for
YOU.
Chat with them about pricing and time slots to work with you to get
your
bike set up right!

Videography: Tom Davlantis will be on hand with his video equipment.
See him
at the grid area to arrange a video session to gauge your progress or
take
home a souvenir video.
