When I was learning to do it, popping the clutch...I did it alittle bit at a time..give alittle throttle, then pop it..then next time, alittle more, then pop it...it got me used to feeling how much of a jump/jerk I would get at the time. Of course, I killed the gears/clutch in my yamaha trying it that way, so it's certainly not the method of choice.
