So you are out riding with a buddy, carving up the back roads on the way back from a long ride. It's late at night, not too much traffic on the road.

A car comes around a corner, straddling the center line, and sideswipes your buddy. It wasn't a head-on hit, but you have no idea if your buddy was injured, at least slightly, when his bike skidded off into the grassy ditch at 35+ mph.

The car doesn't even slow down, and there are no witnesses. You have a cell phone, what do you do?

a) stay with your buddy, make sure he's ok, and call for help.
b) chase down the car and get a plate number, then return to your buddy.
c) other options? :2cents:

Take care of my friend first. If he cant tend to himself, then you just might save his life. Call for help. If hes ok and just shook, he can call whoever he wants and id think about catching up to the vehicle. bikes are fast after all.

:iagree: , go back, see if the friend is ok. If he is, then go after the car since you know you'll catch him. But FRIEND FIRST. ALWAYS!

Heres what I would do. I would chase the car down, rip the MFR from the car and beat his till he was unconiuose(sp). Then leave the ****er and return to my buddy. Make sure he is cool and call the police. Then return to the MFR that hit my buddy and interduce him to a a$$ whooping of a lifetime. Then return to my buddie and wait for the Police. Then return to the MFR that hit my buddie and countiue the beating to the police arrived to pull me off. I have great lawyer on retainer so I would get off ez on mental distress pley.

well ur on a bike, and in the twisties.. so u know u can catch the car... so u stop, check on ur partner.. if he is ok, go after the car, and get the plate number and pull over and call it in.. and then go back to ur buddy and call for help. ie, tow truck, or if its minor injuries but still in need of medical attention , call for an ambulance awhile..

if he's in bad shape, stay w/ him no matter what and let the arsehole go..ur buddy needs u more.

Definitely take care of my buddy first. Also, I would have to take into consideration the fact that IF I try to chase down the car, my mind won't really be on my riding and I could possibly get injured as well. What good would that do my friend that is laying in the grass waiting on an ambulance?

Nope I'm 300% with Twisty on this.... at least get that MOFO's plate number!! And if you are concerned about your buddy save the a-holes beating for later! But I sure would beat the living crap out of that guy! Either right then and there or sometime in the near future! He would wish he was dead...cause I'd take 3 of the biggest guys I know with me and his face would look like hambuger meat by the time we were done!!! And that ain't no $h ittin either!!

Why don't you just put his mouth on a curb and punch him in the back of the head? (borrowed from "American History X" movie) although if you punch him, you won't, or probably won't kill him if you do it right. Then he won't be able to talk at all until he gets his dentures!

Tough call, and good question Todd.

I think I would stop and call to my friend, say "You ok?". If I got a good response I would quickly go in pursuit of the offender. I think it would only take a minute or 2 to catch up, memorize the plate number, and get back to your buddy. If there was no response or a moan or something I would forget about the guy who hit him and just worry about getting my friend attended to.

Situation would definitely be easier if you were riding with 3 or more :) .. Plus thats all the more of an ass kicking the driver of the car gets when he gets tracked down :D

My cell phone is connected to the speakers and boom mic in my helmet...I can pull over long enough to look for blood and get a response, because you NEVER move or turn someone injured...then I go after the car while conversing with 911...

Check on the friend first, if he's ok go chase the MFR beat the hell out of him, then while he's lying on the ground bleeding to death roll his car into the ditch where he can't get it out, and say how'd ya like that [email protected]!, then ride back to your buddy.

:iagree: I believe this is the closest to what I would do. :withstupi
I'm almost certain that it would be demanded from the downed friend to catch the cage. I know that's what I would want If i was in the ditch.
