I found some good info searching, but it didnt help.

My problem is this:

the bike will run while its cranking only. As soon as i let off the start button it dies. I have wired up the sidestand, bank angle sensor and clutch switch, so none of them should be a problem. Also, the fuel pump does not prime when the key is turned on.

i also had a multimeter on the pink wire on the ECM to verify it has 9vto it for the anti-theft. We also took the start switch button apart and cleaned the contacts on it, and everything looked normal.

ECM problem? im at a loss....

thanks for your help

Sounds like one of the safety items is not properly bypassed.

my tip sensor was bypassed because it stopped working, and i bypassed the other things to make sure they werent the problem.

but anyhow......... here we go..

the battery was dead and, being sunday i couldnt find one, so i was running the power off the charger like i have done on several other bikes. after several hours of working on it, we hooked the oscilloscope up to the bike, only to find out that the charger doesnt send out the correct wave form, which in turn messes up the computer. The reason, im guessing that it starts with the starter engaged is because the alternator is putting out the correct waveform, then as soon as it stops, it goes back to the battery.

i thought a few times that it might just actually need a battery to work propperly, then just dismissed it.... lesson learned!
