Did you see the latest issue of Motorcyclist, where they restored a 1979 Honda CBX? In 1979, I almost bought one. I had narrowed down my choices to a CBX, Suzuki GS 1000, and Yamaha XS 1100.

When I sat on the CBX, the six-cylinder engine stuck out on both sides of the gas tank. It looked and sounded awesome. The CBX and Yamaha were faster, but the Suzuki handled better. There was even talk of an 1100 coming from Suzuki that was faster than any of them. The dealer made me a great offer for a black GS 1000 on the floor. I bought the GS and still ride it on Sundays. But if I had bought the CBX....

Ive got it at home..i've looked at the pics of the bike, but not yet read the article..will check it out though...I remember my brother, back when I was a kid, bought a new CBX, 1979...bike was heavy as all hell as I remember him talking about it now and then, but he loved it, one of the first bikes I remember seeing, one of the reasons I've always liked honda. ...beautiful ride, then he layed it down, and well.. :(

Just be thankful you didn't buy that xs 11 special... I had one for a short, a very short time, and still couldn't keep a rear tire on it
