Plese be aware...

Some of you take your old cell phones and trade, sell, or donate your phones when you get a new one. This is an F.Y.I if you are one of those people... Some people who pass on their used cell phones are risking vital information in some cased. Most people delete all their information from the phone before passisng it on... this is great but like most things in life it is not guaranteed...

There is a company that has come up with a program to retrieve lost information on cell phones that have been accidently lost. As is life something good that is designed to help people who lost valuable information is also being used for something bad... Theives are collecting used phones saying that they are being used for a good charitable reason and they are searching through the phones for any records for calls to banks etc... if you have ever called your bank to get a balance you you dial your bank and the # is stored in the memory.. you then enter your account # and it is stored... you then enter your oin# and it is stored... people are using things like this to once again rob honest people of their hard earned $$$$$

keep your private info private... destroy your old and unused phones or do not use them to check on bank accounts...

Great info. Now I know why I have a drawer full of old phones and pagers.
I thought it was because you are too busy on the forum to have the time to toss them out...

my phones usually meet the reaper in a creative way when their life is complete. Computer hard drives are another good thing to destroy as well.

I will have to do some digging, but I don't think it works this way. The only way numbers are stored on the phone is if you dial, then press send. If you dial a number and do nothing, the number is never stored... likewise if you are on a call, say with your bank, and you press numbers those do not get stored either... Sorta like typing a post and never clicking submit...

You should not use the cell phone to call your bank anyway, I use the land line if I call the Bank. Some people still have scanners that can pick up cell phones, Its not hard to modify a scanner to pick up cell phone conversations, a person could record your bank call and use a phone dialer number decoder and be in your bank account after you hang up.

I can access someone's landline with a flathead screwdriver and an old phone handset in under 5 minutes... The truth is, if someone wants your info bad enough, they can get it...

You can figure out someone's PIN number at the ATM based off the sound of the person typing the number in... Same with a keyboard... People can get everything they need to steal from your bank account by seeing one of your checks... I could go on forever...

My phones and hard drives are such old technology, as y'all keep telling me, that no one would want them...besides, I don't keep any valuable info in my phone or on my hard drive anyway. Everything I do on the computer goes onto a Zip or memory stick (yes slimes, I have discovered 2006 technology)

There is nothing on my computer but hours of surfing porn sites...

as far as the phone company and billing goes those digits dont show up but this program that pulls all keystrokes from the phone...

I don't care what some people do with this info.... take it or leave it just thought I would pass it on and let you all do with it as you please...

if some of you want to loan money to a nigerian who says that he will pay you back millions go ahead... it doesn't affect me any..

:slol:

Zip technology is like 1990... and memory sticks are sooo 2002....

As far as the internet porn goes... :dthumb: :dthumb: :dthumb:

No need to get defensive...

It just doesn't make sense that a cell phone would track all keystrokes... Numbers dialed/called makes sense, but any and all keystrokes really doesn't sound likely to me... That memory could be allocated to something more useful, like additional contacts in your phone directory...

I have been unable to find any real information either way and am very interesting in checking further... The only services I have found that do cell phone recovery just get old text messages and phone numbers/contacts. Can you provide me with some sources?

Blah Blah Blah...

I bet most of you leave your car keys out, pay stubs on the counter, don't shred your reciepts and spam style credit card approval letters. But you are worried about your keystrokes on your cell phones!
