when u wreck, u consciously/subconsciously, try to keep ur head up from the ground, its a knee jerk reaction..so I can see how you could have gone down and ended up like that.

OK, somebody passed this photo along to me to prove my point that you really aren't going to pur your hands down that much.

It looks like Zemki is trying to "stop" himself with his hands NOT! Notice the hand position in this picture. But of coarse, what would a pro like Zemki know anyways? :skep:

:2cents: :sorry:

yeah, but dont u think it depends on what type of fall ur having...I agree that wouldnt totally try and stop with ur hands, but wouldnt u atleast try and put them down to aid in a roll, depending on the situation, lessen the initial impact.?

Oh, yeah, you'll use them to keep from rolling but you won't use them to slow down. You'll use your elbows for that.

It is just a matter of instinc not what you "think" you want!

I can't look for the article now, but several years ago, Motorcycle Consumer News tested gloves for abrasion. Kangaroo was the strongest, with elkskin second.

I was in a hardware store and tried on some gloves made from elk. They felt terrific and I wear them all the time for riding. ;)

Really. Kangaroo was the strongest, with elkskin skin second. And here I am riding around with a little cows butt on my hands for protection. I never heard of the Kangaroo skin being used.

Well, since you already bought gloves, this advice won't help you, but maybe it will help others. When trying on gloves, ALWAYS sit on a bike and see how the gloves fit with your hands around the grips. Gloves actually get tighter as you wrap your fingers around the grip. How do I know? Because I bought a pair of Joe Rocket gloves online after trying a pair on in a store. Unfortunately, I didn't try them on properly. Put on the new gloves that came from online (cheaper than store) and the felt good. Took the tags off and went for a ride a few days later. I should have bought a larger size, because they were too tight when riding. Couldn't return the gloves because tags were removed and I waited too long to wear them while riding. So now I have a $50 pair of gloves that don't fit and a $70 pair that does.

helps if u can break the gloves in too after you get em, before you ride. after I picked up my latest pair, i wore them around the house, making a fist and tyring to stretch them so they'd conform more to my hand...after a short time of doing that, they fit just right now,
