I rode in yesterday, and by the time I left work it was hot and humid. I had my leather jacket on so it was mildly uncomfortable; 86 degrees.

This morning it was 46 on the ride in!

My legs got so cold, they didn't feel cold after a little while. It's an odd sensation, they actually started to feel warm and it was no longer uncomfortable.

Anyway, what a contrast between days. The high today is projected to be only in the low 60's.

Today is supposed to drop into the 40s.

I really need to find some gloves that are warm, yet allow me to manipulate the controls correctly. :willy:

Ah shoot, 40's ain't too bad. Atleast not with heavy winter gloves, handguards and heated grips  . We've had a couple days down in the 30's that I thought I was just ignorant for riding by the time I got to work.

Denver gets over 300 days of sunshine. Half occur during the fall and winter. I've been riding almost all winter since 1979. I used to wear old ski bibs, which are insulated and waterproof bib overalls. My legs were nice and warm, but the swishing of the nylon when I was walking was too much. Leather pants are more protective, look better, and are just as warm. Even on the coldest days I wear bicycle shorts or running tights underneath.

As for warm hands, give Hippo Hands a try. Been using them for over twenty years. I just strapped 'em on when the temp got below 60. I use the same elkskin gloves that I wear during the summer, and my hands are plenty warm. Other bikers like the looks and are amazed when I pull out my hands with regular gloves on.

So far, I have ridden in as low as 25 degrees. No heated anything. Just some thinsulate gloves, the liner in my Joe Rocket jacket, and some thermal underpants to keep me warm.

I didn't ride in this morning, it was 28 degrees. I just didn't feel like being in the cold today, for some reason.

Between 45 to 50 is my limit and it has to be dry. No leaves or wet roads for me. 50 is just the right temp to get the blood flowing for a fresh start to a crappy day of work.

Ah! Can we say W O R K on this site?

I'm not riding at all right now so you all suck!!

But I have found that as long as you wear something under your jeans to break that cold you'll stay warm. I have worn some thin cotton like pj pants under my jeans and that works well. Not as hot as long johns but keeps your legs very comfortable. All you need is something to keep the cold jeans off your skin...

I've worn thermal underwear under my jeans, but you can't walk around all day with that on. It's restricting and uncomfortable, so at some point it has to come off. Plus, on the ride home you don't them!

That's why I said a standard cotten pj pant...something you might wear in the summer around the house... they don't bother you that much the thermal stuff!
