Wanna hear a stupid situation with the Colorado DMV? Well here you go:

So I got the papers to get my bike registered in the middle of June. It took me until like June 26th to have the money to send them, $155.??. So I mailed it out on the 26th of June and because they got it over the July 4th weekend, they sent it back. Saying something that I have to be charged the July rates which is about $10.00 higher than June. I was like, WTF? How can you charge more for one month than the other. The lady goes, well if you wait longer it costs more. I was like, So if I wait until Christmas, it's going to cost me more because I have to pay for someone's Christmas Bonus. She didn't like that, hung up on me even! So now I'm waiting for a call back from the head of the DMV!

And people wonder why I hate the mid-west! They do everything so f'ed up around these states. I mean, NY and every other state that I know of, charges ONE fee reguardless of the time of year. But in Colorado, you pay more for each month that you wait? Funny thing about it, it never happened with my car!

I would have hung up on your smart ass too! If it was due in June but they did not get it until July, of course there is gonna be a extra charge of late fee. Why should you be allowed to pay at your leisure when everyone else pays on time?

You don't follow. They didn't send it to me until like June 15th. I mailed it on the 26th, which means they should have gotten it on like 28-29 June. But because they took from the 29th through the 4th off (offices closed) and they opened it on the 5th, although the postmark and letters were dated for June, it doesn't matter.

Now I'm trying to figure out when I did this with my car for two years (one mailing AFTER it was due, the other mailing two months BEFORE) they didn't charge me more for mailing it after or less for mailing it before?

FYI: Texas nor Colorado are considered the Mid-West. Texas can be debateable but for arguments sake, its usually considered Southwest. They are either West or Southwest. Colorado is a 4 corners state. Thats just plain West. The real Mid-West really do things a$$-backwards. We were in Nebraska last summer and my buddy had a missing Proof of Insurance fiasco. Long story short, The local office there refused to print a copy of my buddies AZ insurance to put in his AZ registered car because his proof of ID was an out of state AZ license (all his stuff is valid) :bonk:

AZ has one rate all year. On most things, if your'e late, they charge you $8.00 a month for every month late.

dude..the people at the DMV don't care who the F you are. Ever notice when you walk in a DMV the workers don't even act like they like their job. Pay your $hit on time and you wouldn't have a late fee. You should have accounted for the holiday weekend. That is your fault not the DMV's fault.

Why don't you register it in TX. Don't you have tax exempt sheets for military members? I pay 33 bucks a year in Nevada. NV doesn't have state tax so they get you come vehicle registering time. Maybe it's just an AF thing, I don't know.

I don't know about the rest of Colorado, but Denver just started that late fee. If your plates expired in May (the 31st), you have a grace period of 30 days (June 30) to get them renewed. After July 1, it's $10 late fee (State Statue 42-3-111). More info: www.denvergov.org/motorvehicle.
that's the way it's been every state i've lived in, and thats alot of states.

1. It is my bike plates, not the car.
2. I claim Colorado as my residence so it doesn't matter, no scam.
3. I'm actually gonna send a letter to the head of the DMV about this situation, cause if that statute is correct and valid, then I don't pay the extra money.
4. Registering in Tx. don't even get me started on that. They said if I paid more in CO in taxes, then I won't pay anything in TX. Said TX plates would cost me like $30.00 I go there to get them and then they say, "That'll be $415.62. I was like, WTF!
5. New York has ONE set rate for your car/bike/plane/boat/jetski/etc and it doesn't change. That is why I HATE everything in between the two mountain ranges! And Sandamo, Texas and Colorado are still mid-west/west, don't matter.

You know...Florida is full of New York A$$holes like you...they came down here because they liked the "Quaintness" of the areas...Then the first flippin thing out of their mouths is "Well, that's not the way they do things in New York." Then they immediately start trying to change things. If New York was so great, why aren't you there now??? My Grandpa always told me that before you start telling people how stupid they are, you need to look down and see where your feet are... Look down stupid, you ain't in New York no more, Toto...

To the rest of you I apologize for the previous rant.

Not sure but it sounds to me like you stated you reside in CO. so they have charged you taxes when you got the bike originaly, now your annual renual in CO. is cheaper then Texas.
Only because Texas wants their taxes on the Bike registration for you to operater on their roads as a Texan. Most every state charges you Sales tax when you move and register in their State. Not sure about all but most. You should Have Never originally registerd In CO. If you wanted to pay sales tax once. Like I said not sure about whats going on but if you ever move anywhere and try to reg the bike in the New state you are going to run into this over and over. Your best bet is to get the Bike Reg'ed in Texas and be done with it. I cant belive that $400.00+ reg fee is annual. It is a one time tax. Get it over with. I would never pay That kind of reg fees annually for My Hemi Ram Monte Carlo SS and My FZ1, The three of them here in Jersey only come to Just under $120.00 a year and I think I over bid that without looking. It might not even be that High.
