I built a computer for a friend of mine last year. It worked good for about a year then wouldn't turn on. My friend who doesn't know much about comps installed another mobo. It still didnt work. When he brought it to me it froze during logon. and when i tried to install windows it would blue screen and say dumping to physical memory. I tried many diff parts including a diff cpu.. to no luck.

Now he bought an asus a8v w/ amd 64 3200+. 420watt ps, 512mb corsair ddr400 ram. ati vid card and Western digital 120gb hd.

So I put this all together last night. When I try to install XP on it. It blue screens on me and dumps to memory. The same exact thing its done with 3 mobo's now and 3 diff processors. I'm getting extremely frustrated with this. Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Below are the parts i switched out with known working ones.

Power supply
memory
cd-rom
and a video card.

Thank you.

could the motherboard be bad?
You are getting a conflict somewhere....
Are you doing a direct boot from the XP cd rom at start up? If so you should format the harddrive with NTFS system..then let it load the drivers for XP.
