The Cycle World International Motorcycle Show is coming to Denver on November 18-20. I always have a good time even though I'm not looking for a new bike. It's $12 now, but the BMW dealer's usually have discount tickets. If you want to buy Motorcycle Consumer News magazine, they usually have a booth at the show. You buy one year, get one free, so you save $41. See if the show's coming to a city near you http://show.motorcycleshows.com/IMSBrandManager/v42/index.cvn?.

I got every year... I'm excited that they finally moved it to a better venue. The Novi Expo center will be way better than Cobo! But they want $13 now! :yikes: :nonod:

Im excited it moved to Novi too Gasman, but you are wrong, its not Novi Expo center, its the brand NEW building, Rock Financial Showplace. I thought it was just a re-done NEC but its not, its a whole different (huge) building that is about 1/4 east(down gd. river) of the former expo center. It's gonna be a kick ass show this year I think!

Houston Show

LAst weekend i went to the houston show. My wife has family there so its no real stretch. A few things: There was a noticeble absence of KTM. With new products, you'd think they would bring something, but no. And i really wanted to see the 675 up close but there wasnt one. Actually, there was a tiny corner with 4 bikes in it for triumph. I think they were a local dealer.

on to the good stuff. Walk through the doors and there it the huge Yamaha booth staring at you. and up front is the R1 LE and the new R6. LODY they look good in person! The R1 looks the part up close and feels great. The R6 is amazing and the tactile feel of both are superior to most everything else there. I found my next bike... the raven R6

Steve Rapps Jordan Suzuki bike was there, as was Mladins #1 GSXR. Suzukis 500cc GP Telefonica machine was there too. i think its KR jr.'s.

Siting on the Ninja 650, i felt odd. doesnt look it, but the seat is very low and the bars are taller than my naked sV. Upright is accurate. looks better in pictures too. :2cents:

The best booth was the ducati booth. My first time on a testastretta bike and wow, thats skinny! i really appreciate the little things they included, like the integrated resivoirs that dont stick up over the clipons, the adjustability, and the seat is much better than the previous generation. If i had money id get one.

just a little bit, but i dont have my pics yet so this will have to do. Best of show... Yamaha and Ducati bikes. Aprilia third though it looked like some one rode the Mille in the rain, and the SVX in the dirt.

So you would still go with a SV over the Ninja after sitting on one?

Just got back from the Denver show. First off, I was disappointed with the Honda booth. Tiger stripes on a 600RR and an airbag for the Goldwing. Big deal. There's nothing to replace the Blackbird. Where's the CBR 1400 or VFR 1200? And I wasn't the only one asking. The only bikes I liked were the 1000RR and 600F4i. A local Honda dealer at the show had a new 2003 SuperHawk for $5700.

And Suzuki. It's hard to believe, but the busa is now the best looking of the gixxers. The wasp waist and wing shape on the tail section, introduced last year on the 600-1000 GSX-R's, still looks bad. I thought the 2005 red and black Hayabusa looked terrific, but the 2006 white busa looks even better. I also liked the 650 V-Strom. I don't know if I missed them, but I didn't see any Bandits, and only the 750 Katana.

Yamaha had the most black bikes, and they looked terrific. The R6, in good-looking black or yellow, actually felt quite comfortable, as did the R1. The two bikes I liked last year, the FZ1 and FJ1300 have changed. The FZ1 is too "modern" looking, and the FJ, to fix the massive amount of heat it gave off to the rider, has awkward-looking side panels. And the handlebars are still too high.

Kawasaki had some taseful bikes, but just one that I drooled over. The ZX-14. They had it in red or black. It's not going to be introduced until March, but it felt great. I can't wait to read a test on it.

Triumph was missing, but MV Agusta was there. You couldn't sit on their bikes, but they looked hot. One guy was buying one and put down his credit card. He must have a high limit on his card. I wanted to like the Aprilia Mille, but the edges of the seat cuts into your inner thigh. There were more local chopper-makers than last year, and lots of cruisers. The Victory looked the best of the cruisers, but the Harley V-Rod, set up as a dragster, felt the best. It was a great show and I had a terrific time.

The first picture is my friend Neal on a Harley we both agreed we would like to have. The second is of No Worries trying to hold down the front end of a great looking white Hayabusa. The third picture is Neal on the ZX-14.
