Just reading the crap going on in NO and Mississippi. Killing over food and water, riots, people dying from lack of medical needs and now a SNIPER!
Christ on the cross, what is wrong with this idiot that he/she (being fair) thinks the outside world is currently a George Romero film and can snipe people at will. Those are deperate people, not the walking dead.
The looting, random gunfire and acts of stupidity make me cringe.
Are all the TWF folks that may have been caught in the storm, able to avoid this stuff? Have any of them chimed in yet? I sure hope they are doing well.

I was in tears watching the Primetime special last night, and now today hearing where everything has gone frome worse to nightmare horrible. It is so sad.

i'm with you, pippi. being a girl, i feel everybody's pain. compassion can be a curse sometimes. it is such a vast disaster, i feel absolutely helpless. i could not even imagine...

Hey, i thought id check in before my electricty goes out again. Im not in N.O. but Yeah things are a mess here. New Orleans is an absolute tradgedy. There are 3 levee breaches there, all in canals. Its lake ponchatrain thats flooding N.O. People looting, and shooting, and dying, and starving. Rescue workers are tying floating bodies to signs and poles to pick up later. Natural gas is leaking and burning. Disease will be a concern soon. As well as snakes. Imagine the Louisiana delta and erase 40 miles, thats what they said it looks like. There are people around here at every gas station and every parking lot living out of thier car. There is hard to find a gas station with gas and when you do its expensive. Its also hard to find a store with alot of food. Traffic is terrible and 75% of the traffic lights dont work here. Electricty comes and goes (mine has been on a total of about 20 hours here and there since Monday) and some wont have any for a month. Some towns have curfews and there has been light looting here and there. People are buying alot of houses here, perhaps accepting a total loss. I'll be around, laytah-

Thanks for the update JK. Keep us updated as things progress for you and what you see down there. I was watching it on the news tonight and saw one reporter giving his story and then turn to show you a dead man in the street left there and covered. :nonod:

I didn't hear of the sniper.. man people must just be snapping like a mfr down there.. I don't blame them it is a terrible situation.. I have refused to give into the media's obessive need for overexposure and filming tradegy for their own personal glory as well as living off other people's misery so I have stayed away from CNN or other facist media sources. I would rather hear it first hand from unbiased sources in the know like JK. I don't hear of it getting any better anytime soon. Hope they get this cleaned up and life as normal as possible under the circumstances for the people down there ASAP. If I have a chance to help donation or otherwise I will make sure I do what I can. Take it easy down there and keep us posted.

Yeah things are definitely getting heated down there. I came across several articles yesterday that noted very blatant racism that apparently is still occuring in the south. A black man was carrying a bag and was noted as 'looting.' In another article a white man is carrying a bag and was noted as 'finding resources.' If you ask me underwriting racism in the media is an insult to the people who are homeless with broken families in the south right now.:cursin: I found a couple of links below and it looks like gov't action is kicking in. I just wonder where the money is going to come from.:nonod:

Its a horrible situation that people need to buckle down and start working on...

But did anybody else hear on the news on how long the govt has known about the potential problems in N.O. with their city being built between the ocean and a "great" lake that is 20' over the city... was that smart? NO!

im sure everywhere the same as here, EVERYBODY knew NO was going under eventually. You dont even need to do the math, just stand on the river front or lake front and look around. Even the first settlers knew it, they built the french quarter on the high ground.

Not positive of this so don't quote me word for word but a relative of mine went there for Mardi Gras and found out from the locals that most of New Orleans is only 10 to 12 feet above water. They have to choose carefully where they bury their late because graves are easily flooded and eventually looted from being exposed.
