Is your helmet noisy? Do you use them on long rides? Short rides?

i wear them all day at work and wear them on the ride home. If i remember to bring some home i wear them on most rides. For long rides its a MUST. My hearing is leaving me anyway so im trying to keep it as long as possible. Plus i can hear myself sing better.

For around town where the engine and speed varies I don't. For long trips where the wind and engine are constantly droning, I use foam ear plugs.

I put one of these Windjammers on my helmet and it knocked about 75% of the noise down. I couldn't believe the difference and it isn't hot either... Check it out...

There are areas around where i work that call for their use but it bothers me to wear them.It makes me feel like i have a cold.

Yeah I can get them at work all day long! I might just use the foam ear plugs... might have to take some to the GAP!

That's what I'm thinkin' of XRD. I'm gonna go buy an iPod. I was thinking about the XM Radio by Delphi but the battery only lasts for 5hrs max. The iPod lasts for 18+ and if you get the 30gig one, you can like almost across the country on shuffle and not hear the same song twice!

just wear the mp3 player on long rides or on the way to work, if im withsomeone i dont use the mp3 casue i can never hear them at a stop sign or light or whatever.

I dropped some $$ on these combination earplug/earphones for my Ipod. They are really great, as they reduce the fatigue from listening to the wind noise and I can play the volume way down on the music so that I really just get background tunes. I can't hear speech much with them in, but I can still hear my engine and the road noise of cars coming up and around me. If I'm going to be riding with others I will generally wear some looser fitting earplugs to reduce the windnoise but allow me to hear them talk if necessary at lights/stopsigns/etc.

See, I have a iPod Mini and I fit like 3days worth of songs on it. But now I run into a problem. When I put the lid on, the plugs come out of my ears and it takes me like 5-10minutes of sitting there figiting with them to get them back in. Anyone have any ideas on different plugs that won't come out when putting the lid on? (currently using the ones that come with the iPod)

Get a chatter box and install their speakers and just plumb the IPod into that..then you have both...

I don't wear any ear plugs, but I have tried riding with the MP3 player on the interstate, I just don't like not being able to hear certain things like getting pulled over by a cop. I need to invest in a new helmet because mine is so noisy and becoming a P.O.S.

not the plugs I had in, I had to pull over on I75 to take them off, I felt like my ears were bleeding. I think it was just the type of ear phones I had on.
