I cannot ride my bike without ear plugs.

The trick however is getting the foam plugs to fit correctly. Too many people just roll 'em up and just mash 'em in their ears, not sealing properly. To get them to fit, you have to moisten them (I just use a little spit), and then with your opposing hand, you have to pull tthe top of our ear up while you insert the plug.

Try it, and you'll really see how well they work.

Cheers.

G, those look pretty nice and DANG they are pricey!!!
No joke, but WOW do they make a difference for me. I haven't regretted it one bit. :) They certainly aren't gonna be for everyone though ;)

ive riddin with my mp3 player. very nice.but when i threw my shoei against the wall and bought a less expensive HJC the noise level dropped alot! no need for earplugs. besides the best music is a yosh slip on and high revs!

although my earplugs work great when the kids are bitchy

I got a few more people in WOS to try the ear plugs this week at the GAP and some liked it, others didn't.

Rev pointed out that it makes you less sleepy if riding for long peroids of time. I wondered about that, but tried it one day. And he was right. By taking out of the drowning of wind noise it really makes you able to concentrate more on the riding.

I am becoming truely hooked on the ear plugs.

It's well known in the aviation industry that constant exposure to loud noise is a phenomena that causes fatigue.

That's why when I fly my plane, I use a mil-spec active noise reduction (ANR) communication headset.

It would definitely not be a good idea for pilots to be falling asleep at the controls!

And with my exhaust as loud as it is (by nature of it's design - Two Brothers), I would have to be an freakin' idiot to ride without earplugs. I can't afford for my hearing to be damaged. I also wear ear muffs when I mow the lawn, weedwhack, use the gas blower or powersaw (anything electrical that makes a lot of noise). I cringe whenever I see people doing these things without hearing protection. They can fix your eyes, but they can't fix your ears (yet). A small amount of protection goes a long way!

Once again, with regards to the fitment of the plugs, I feel that a lot of people why don't like them may be saying that because they don't understand how to insert them properly. Therfore, they may not be receiving the full benefit from them.

I see too many people crudely roll them up and mash them into their ears. That's not the way to do it.

I started riding with my MP3 player when I go on longer (2 hour or more) rides. I do not turn them on in town though so I can still hear sirens and other things associated with city riding.

My HJC CL-14 is so much louder than my Shoei that I can barely hear the music if I wear the HJC.
