Do you slow down in construction zones on the highway?

Here in Michigan it is basically construction season and construction barrels are the state flower...

When this is the norm...

Do you slow down thru these sites on the highways?

I certainly do on the bike b/c on I-95 and I-4 especially the odds of the roadway being torn up with large holes or there being a barrel or some other object in the road always seems to be higher.

I avoid construction on the bike if possible.

I know for example they are tearing up US 23 by me in both directions. They have it down to one lane each way. Posted limit 45mph... both lanes are crammed onto one side of the highway...as in both north & south lanes are on the old northbound side.

If I go thru there, up until I get to the back end of a car..I don't slow down at all. F' that. If I'm doing 100 before...I'm still doing 100 till I catch up to the pack of cars trolling along.

I worked in these zones as a teen. I know how dangerous it is to just be there. You may or may not believe how stupid drivers can be until you have to deal with it all day.

I too work in these zones all the time and understand that POV. However, when the working stops the speed should increase if safely able to. If there is a concrete wall seperating the traffic and the workers...and the cars can safely drive at a higher speed then they should be able to.

Believe me I understand, I work in construction zones, both city/side roads and highways, on a daily basis. But there needs to be some better reasoning and WAY better pre-planning.

That would be way to much thought for the state to comprehend.

I for the most part always slow down in construction zones. I respect those workers out there busting their @sses in the heat or freezing cold. There is no reason people need to fly in those zones and wind up killing someone. Plus if you get caught its double fine.

speedtraps in construction zones have nothing to do with public safety...they have to do with revenue...there is a place in Georgia, Peach County, near Ft. Valley...where there is a construction zone...there is this huge wooden barricade-type sign in the median at the county line that announces a construction zone...It's been there since I moved to Florida in 1984...There hasn't been a shovel turned there in 5 years...but every day, there are county mounties patrolling and writing construction zone tickets on a 6 lane section of I-75 with a 55 mph speed limit...
