We're watching four of our neighbor's houses on our block. They all went to visit relatives for Christmas. To me, the holidays are the worst time to travel. They say to be at the airport at least two hours before departure. They mean inside the airport, not driving up, because parking can take an hour. That would drive me nuts.

It was 54 degrees today, but I stayed home for the wife. Will be in the 50's tomorrow and I'll be out riding. Just have to avoid the malls.

I never travel to far. Maybe a 10-15 min drive. But never have to goto the airport or out of state. With all the traffic...that would drive me crazy. :bonk:

Snowbirds nothing...Florida is God's waiting room!!!

I had to travel this year...my wifey's family is HUGE and we had 7 x-mas parties to go to this year! We left Friday afternoon and didn't get back till about 1:30am Sat nite/Sunday mornin

Next year, I'm thinking of cutting out all that family extra stuff...and just staying at my house...have the parents and siblings over and forget the rest...don't want to be cold about it...just getting sick of everybody expecting us to travel all over the place!! IT SUCKS!!

LOL....Nopers...Don't stay home except to watch my kids and hubby open their presents. Then we relax for a bit and then do the traditional Christmas Day at my Aunt's house. And by the end of the night I'm usually REALLY tired and ready to pull my hair out...LOL :willy:

No, it's not too bad. We BS, eat open presents, do more BSing, pick at leftovers...LOL... But by the end of the night the kids are so tired, not to mention myself and the hubby.

It's just a great day. There are times I wish we could just stay at our own house for Christmas, but it works works itself out and people are happy...LOL

if my significant other is working that holiday e.g. as in this just-passed Christmas day, i avoid holiday traffic by taking LIRR and NJ Transit (one train for each) to visit relatives. this also allows for vast amounts of

otherwise... we stay home. i refuse to spend half the day on the road for a 3 hour visit if no one else wants to reciprocate.
for years i've been trying to convince the relatives "over there" that instead of only inviting us to visit them, they should drive here to visit us at least once every other year

yeah, i know, i know: "Public transit ? are u nuts ?"
when i was single, i used to ride the motorcycle out there on holidays, weather permitting.
but the older i get, the grumpier and less patient with traffic i get :nonod:
these days, nearly all of my non-commute riding is to eastern Long Island... :2cents:
