Ok, how big a ET drop do u think ill get from strapping the front two inches lower and stiffing the rear completly and raising it an inch?...be a pretty big differnece over stock rake..... Is a .25 sec drop in ET unrealisitic from keeping it down until higher speeds?

strapping the front forks down is just to make the launching easier and not have the bike wheelie as easily.....i wouldnt raise the rear shock height at all...leave the rear shock like u ride it on the street and tie the front forks down as far as they wll go...it does make a big difference in your 60' times ,which is the whole dragrace...so it will lower your et's by 2 or 3 tenths....

i use to like to run my bikes the same way as i drove them on the street..I would only tie them down if i was really trying to set some low et numbers etc...or just had a real hard time launching a bike that liked to wheelie..like my gsxr750 with 1 gear down in the front and 2 in the rear..that bike just wanted to reach for the sky all the time....

thank u jack

ill def order the straps, the only actual racing i plan on doing this year is drag so the whole setup of the bike this year is gonna be drag and i want the best possible ET. My bike is a Z1000 which is geared MUCH lower then a GSXR stock and has as short or shorter of a wheel base.. my wheelbase is shorter then my firends ZX636, and it wheelies at less then 50% throttle in first at only 4,000RPMs.. its a complete nightmare to launch hard so anythign to help is good...hoping with it strapped and the 200 Rear tire to hit some 10.5-10.4's
And im hoping by the ned of the race season to get a wheelie bar made for it and run some 10.0's or better. Was gonna do NOS but decided to build the motor first then gas it after its already in the 9's. Ultimate goal for this bike is just to pay it off and gear it for a 80MPH top speed and use it for a Stunt bike as its really not that much to do for that(12oclock bar and engine cage and gearing.. maybe tank and seat mods to make standing on em easier).. then get a 1000CC SS bike for everything else, but in the mean time id like to see the nakid bike run a 9 first and take a 05 Zx10R and GSXR1000 on a amateur night beofre shes retired form the sport.

if your just going to drag race it, then lower it a little...lower the fork tubes in the triple trees and theres a way to lower the rear by inverting the linckage...i never lowered the rear but i dont think its too much of a hassle...but then again, i could be wrong

how would lowering the rear help? I could see the front then its got a lower pivot point for it to hold up on and so it not wheelie as high under the same power.. but with the rear actually higer and mostly stiffer it would prevent weight transfer form getting to far to the back, more weight and momentum up front will keep it down more. Drag cars with traction problems get softer in the rear to get weight transfer back there but they are not worried about flipping it backwards.... I want as much of the weight under accel up front.. so it seems a bigger rack can only help and if i raise the rear i get MUCH more rake then with it stock height...
I cna see lower being better for areodynamics, but a ankid bike is already much worse aero's then a SS bike, so i think all my time savings needs to come from the 60' which Aero's wont play much of a roll at all.

with the forks lowered and tied down and the rear lowered you wont get much transfer at all....
to do it right , you might as well get a 4" extended swing arm...thats the best way to do it...and you can ride it on the street also...it wont be a good track day bike, but it wasnt before the arm anyways....

the bike is actually pretyt dman good on corners.. its not even a problem to get knee down at all, and like i said the ultimate goal of the bike wouldnt justify the cost of the extended swingarm... when id take it off 2-3 years odwn the road.. much cheaper to fabricate a wheelie bar....plus thats easy to take off and still ride twistys. But ill def strap the front and maybe lower the forks maybe a 1/4 inch, i dont want too low, its gotta still feel good in corners and get over speedbumps wihtout hitting the headpipes. and i dont wanna adjust em on a weekend basis, straps are a 5 minute job....and easily undone. I just wnat a cost effective setup so the drag bar makes more since then a swingarm to me...i cna fabricate my own for just under 400$ with it professionally welded and in high grade aluminum, versus over a K$ for the swingarm... They do have adjustalbe swingarm extenders that are under 200$ but then i gotta break the chain and adjust it all the time too and anytime i can stya away form touching the alignment i will.. i like perfect alignment.

the extra 4" doesnt do that much to the handling of the bike, thats all i was saying...i hardly even noticed the extra inches on the arm on my gsxr1100..and that bike wasnt the best handling bike to begin with.. I drove i around all the time like that, and it was fine...wouildnt want to go to a track day with it like that, but it would still carve turns on the street with no problems at all..

heres my 89 gsxr11 with the 4" arm and nos set up....
