Most of todays bikes will run just fine on 89 octane.. but putting in a full tank of 94 octane now and then to clean out the fuel system is advisable. If you start to notice pings or poor performance w/ the lower octane gas, u may wanna have it checked out, just an FYI for future reference.

That being said I tend to run atleast 89 octane in my Kat.

The lower octane you can run with out pre-ignition the better. The more power you will make. Also take this into consideration... most of the gas pumps you pull up to are going to be flushed down with 87 from the previous pump (this being a single handle deal). So you are going to get say... a half a gallon of 87 before you get the 89 or 93... So I always run 93... figure that into play... and your tank is probably about 91 octane... depending on how much it holds and how much you're putting in...

They say its not supposed to happen but, I don't see how the could avoid it unless you empty the hose before pumping.
Then you will still get what ever is between the valve and the pump.

Exactly... Now you only get what is from the handle, up the hose, and to the manifold behind the metal panel in front of your shins. Not alot and no difference in a car/truck that you're putting in 10-20 gals...but if you're just topping off your bike with like 2 gals... then its a bit different if the first .5 gal is 87!

I use 91. I believe my bike (also an 04 R6) had the sticker on the tank that said 91 or higher. I'd get premium. You're only gonna pay 10-12 bucks for a fill. don't be cheap with your bike.

:iagree: Last thing I would want is a problem because I didnt spend the extra $3.00 per fill up.

BTW how big is your gas tank on your R6 (capacity wise)? Some guy told me his R6 has a 2 gallon tank :yikes:
