Is it just to measure each other... if so I don't think the thread is a good idea. If it's to help you pick a major then it's good!

I went to 3 different colleges. 2 university's and 1 technical college. I liked the technical college much better. Now I am CTS certified in Audio Visual / integration / programming........I am a hands on person I learn so much faster that way, then sitting in a class room lecture.

A friend of mine is going to college in AZ for that. Someplace by ASU. Don't remember the college but it's only like a 7month program, then like some internship time.

SV,

You use like "Reason" and that stuff? I'm looking for another program that will like let me take the vocals out of music, just to have like the beats. I like spinnin' my own stuff on tables, but sold mine when I went into the Army. So now I wanna do it on the computer. Know any programs? I tried Adobe Audition, don't know if that does it though.

hmmm. I don't do a whole lot of the editing anymore, and haven't done it in a few years...I will ask one of the guys at work tomorrow that might know what is good on the market today.
We have a mixxer at work that we can upload the track and edit out the vocals...then burn onto a CD-R...I know that mixxer costs well over 20k. It does alot of other awesome things too.

Thanks SV, I appreciate it. I'll see if I can hook myself to get the 20K.

LOL...nah there's computer software that will atleast let you do just audio. this mixing board we have does video editing also, that's why its so expensive.

I really want to see this board we are going to be ordering for some place in NJ... we won the bid for the job..its estimated at over 20 million just in audio and video...anyway this board alone costs 250k...that is NUTZ!!! I get to play with it once it comes in...ya know gotta see how it works and all

That's cool. Have fun playin' with the board.

I know that there is like software that does editing with like beats and all, but I want to take beats from songs and put different vocals over it. I used to do it with my friends mixer and tables, made some really original remixes. (ie: Vanillla Ice, Michael Jackson and some others)

Everyone stands to learn something from everyone else at some point in their confrontation with one another so it was a decent thread. Just a little touchy for the instances of "Ha ha, I have a higher education level than (user name here)!"

You know what we mean Bull? That was the thing that people see as an issue with the thread. Now, asking what subject area the degree was in and maybe the pros/cons of it, that'd be a different story.

Bull, I'm still un-sure what you're trying to get done with this thread. But if you're un-sure of what to go into...I suggest biz. You can always use that no matter what you are doing...

I graduated from college many years ago with a teaching cert. I didn't like teaching, so I went into business for myself. Since I am also a risk taking person, I pulled up stakes and moved/travelled around the country. In my early to mid 20's I first moved to Florida, I took a job with a construction company as an operating engineer, This company had projects going all through the carribean and central america. I spent 2 years working/visiting in countries that most people dream about going to. I mention this because even after I returned to school for my accounting degree and graduate work, Travelling and living in various parts of the world have been the best education I have ever received. People, like Bulldog, who live on the west coast, have a different culture and point of view than people who live in Des Moines. I'm not saying one is better, they are different. They grow up facing different situations and choices to make. I judge a person's education more on their life's experiences then "book learning" I work with people with PHD's who can't change a tire or add oil to their cars. I know college graduates whose live's are in shambles because they never learn from their mistakes. One of the men who taught me the most about life, didn't get past the 6th grade, because he had to work to help his family, and when he died, he owned 5 Holiday Inns...So it is a good tread Bull, because education is not just about what diploma you have

:iagree:

I'll keep this short because I do agree that this thread could get ugly. I've attended four universities and one technical school. I graduated certified in electronics and will be receiving my bachelors this winter. However, I have worked in the automotive industry for the last 11 years and that has taught me much more about life and people. It is good to educate yourself and be knowledgeable, but actual education is only part of the bigger picture.
