I ran into a deal in last week newspaper. A guy is selling an '04 CBR 1000 RR with 283 miles on it. I call him and he says he only took it for a ride once. I'm telling myself this is to good to be true :skep: . So mid week I go take a look and :readng: start researching more on the Fireblade. When I went to look at it its just as he said and mint. I found one rub spot that I rubbed off with my thomb and some spit. The bike only has a thick layer of dust from being in the garage for most of the winter and this summer so far.
I tortured over the weekend of "to buy or be smart you have enough bikes" :wredx: and then the juvenille tendencies took over and I found ways to rationalize the purchase  . I figured I would cut his asking price by $700 and he would probably say no, well he said yes and I got it for $200 under Blue Book min. Anyway I picked it up tonight and took it for a ride still working a breakin cycle no long durations at one rpm and going through the low to mid rpm range still. Man, I think I'm in lust  . The comparison between this and the F4i is comparing a Porsche and a Ford Focus. The power, the smoothness, the ergos, the riding ease,...etc.
Don't get me wrong I love that F4i and we've learned so much together. I may have to keep them seperated in the garage so the F4i doesn't try to sabotage the 1KRR.
I going to keep the F4i as my track bike and the Fireblade as my street bike. Finally I don't have to stop riding one to two days ahead of a track day and spend a whole night prepping the bike for the weekend. That's the plan anyways
, but I think I'm going to have a hard time not wanting to ride it on the track, we'll see.
Here are some pics.
