Wow This weekend was very productive for me! I was extremely determined to get things done. Some stuff I was suprised I did!!! Keep in mind that the mechanic that had my bike for two whole monts and did NOTHING!!! Here is the list of things I did:

1. Install Frame Sliders (compliments of Speedwerks Thanks guys!!!). I had limited tools to cut the fairings. If you look closely, you can tell which fairing I cut first. It looks like I was drunk when I did the first one
2. Relocate the radiator resivoir (it sounds easier than it was, at least to me )
3. Bleed front brakes. The fluid coming out was dark brown/black sludgy stuff, a vast improvement in the front :yesnod:
4. Replace bent header. This was hindering the attachment of the rear braket to the muffler, and it sounds way better now that the pipe is not pinched anymore. The radiator was sort of a pain to move out of the way, but like I said, I was really determined to get it done.
5. Adjust idle. It was idling at under 1K, and most of the time, it would just conk out and die at idle, even with some choke on. Thanks to the help of Speedwerks again to help me with this solution and giving me the general idea! :dthumb:
6. Replace dirty air filter. I just replaced it with a new OEM filter. I plan to get a K&N sometime soon.
7. CLEAN THE EVER LIVING S**T OUT OF IT!!! This took the most time. Im not kidding when I say the yellow rims were so greasy and dirty, and sandy (yes I said sandy, compliments of jackass mechanic) they were practically black. Now they shine like no other :D. I also learned that Goo-Gone is my friend. Cleaning it also included removing crappy decals from previouis owner. Some stupid team decal was on the windscreen. That was an easy fix. The farings have seen better days, but they are clean, the scrathces just show really well.
8. Reinstall the tire weights on the rim. I marked them after they fell off. Just needed some adhesive that I picked up at Wally World. No sweat!

I started at 11:00 AM and didnt finish until 5:00. The bike has never ran or looked so good since it was in my possesion. It runs like a champ now :D. I am kinda proud of all the work I did. I have a substantially better understand of my bike now that I worked on it so much! Well, enough jibber-jabber, now for the pics!!! Enjoy!!!

I would also like to add a thank you Speedwerks for the Vortex Stand thats in these shots. It made working on my bike MUCH easier :D

Oh, There is more...

You think I only took 7 Pictures?

I also included my 01 Yamaha yz250. The garage has aslo been recently poxied and a new cabinet installed. It really is helpful to have an actual workbench in the garage :yesnod: Its the cleanest my garage has EVER been. enjoy!!!

NOTE: Please note that I did not ride at all today. I would never ride with shorts on. It was just for posing purposes. Just covering my a$$ :D

Wow! that is a fine looking machine there...I too spend a lot of time cleaning and polishing on my bike, it gives me a chance to check everything over and get to know it a little better...I did notice that after you got all the cleaning done and you were out posing with the bike, it looks like you missed a spot and had some dirt on your chin...

Looks great! What did you use to clean the rims?

Limited to what I had in the house, Goo-Gone was actually quite effective on the wheels, and some other spots on the bike. Also, I used Windex and water to remove the greasy feel and other from the Goo-Gone, as well as removing other gunk. For the whole bike, I used just hot water and Dawn soap.

What happen to the Yosh can in the original pic? I noticed you went back to the factory muffler.

Well, POD pretty much summed it up for me. It was a Yosh RS-3 carbon fiber can. The can was cracked in the middle almost completely through, leaving it utterly useless. If you look closely at the pic, right where the hanger is , its cracked, leaving this huge hole for fiberglass and whatever else in there to get all over the place. I picked up the header and the muffler for like $40.00. I wasnt planning on getting the header at the time, good thing I did, because the one on the bike was damaged too! :yikes: I just wanted something on there so I can ride around town. This time though, I am giong with the stainless model very very soon. Its strucural integrity should hold up better than the Carbon Fiber models.

A drunk in a bar orders a beer, drinks half, then pours the rest on his hand.

A few minutes later, the guy orders another beer and the bartender gets a little suspicious.

Again, the drunk consumes half and then pours the rest on his hand.

A short while later, the man orders yet another beer.

The bartender finally asks, "Excuse me, sir, but what the hell are you doing?"

The drunk, irritated, replies, "Can't you see that my date and I are trying to have a drink?"

Now I see, my work monitor sucks and I couldn't see the damage. I have a Yosh RS-3 stainless on my 7R. I am thinking of replacing mine this winter with something else, it's too loud for me. If you can verify the fit on your 6R, I will sell you mine at a good price. My RS-3 is a bolt-on. Was yours a slip-on or bolt-on?

Unfortunately, I had the privelage to talking with an AZ inspections officer. The unfortunate part is that I have to spend a lot more money. Turns out my lighting DOES NOT need to be DOT approved, as originally thought! All it requires is that it has to be visible from a minimum of 50 feet! So thats good cheap news. However, the officer said I cannot have any cracks in the lenses, PERIOD. Well, it just so happens to be a have a very small crack on the right headlamp (very close to the edge of the lamp), and that little third light is cracked all the way through. The officer said that wouldnt pass without a doubt. Soooooooo that means a whole brand new lamp housing (I dont want to take chances, as they made it clear they are serious about cracks on lenses). I have a couple things that need to be done to the bike first. Then, for riding purposes, I still have that bent rotor and the breaks require a pump or two to compensate the uneven gap between rotor revolutions. Sooooooo I dropped even more money on some rotors. Then if I pass, I have to pay $55 anyway for the inspeciton, but then I need to register the bike! I am assuming thats $200 or so. Needless to say, I am tapped out moneywise, and need to concentrate on things that I NEED to get done to the bike. But I thank you for the offer RYDE. Besides, I dont know if the header's for a 6R and 7R are the same, but I am not sure.
