I am looking into buying a bike this spring, probably in April. I am a no-expirience rider and I dont want to buy too much of a bike. Also, I dont want a bike that is to hard to upgrade or with few parts for it. I was looking into the sv650s w/ fairings and I like it, but for about the same amount of money I could buy the kawi zz600, which is nice looking. I think the kawi is carbed, which I dont like. I plan on upgrading the exhaust and pc on what ever bike I get. What do you guys think is a better bike? I am looking into easy to care for/ low maintence as a factor too. Thanks.

They are both great bikes.
IMO I like the SV better for a total package. Easier to learn on also. Up grades are endless too.

The Kaw will be faster over all and plenty of go fast parts for it.

Personally... I'd go with the SVs I bought the ZZR600 only because 1. the base has a limit of 600cc's... for new riders... and 2. I got an 05 with 600 miles for basicly $4999... but I LOVE the SVs... especially with the lower fairing... eurobikes.com has ones I like better than the ones offered by Suzuki...

from what I hear though (I just bought my zzr600 and haven't gotten a chance to ride yet as there's 1 1/2 feet of snow on the ground...) the carbs are really good on the zzr600... just what I hear though...

good luck with your choice... two great bikes:cheers:

If you are considering the SV you might want to check out that new 650 Ninja too. I saw one over the weekend. Nice bike.

I vote for the SV. Except I like mine naked! Not to mention they're about $1000 cheaper than the S model.
Really, I found a place in north georiga that was selling both models for about $300 below cost of the S model both were the same price. It was at the end of the year though and they only had a couple bikes left.

another sv vote

The zz600r is the old old ZX6R. so there is alot of aftermarket parts for it. I like it. But i like the SV better. I absolutely love mine (carburators n' all). If carbs are a concern, then a 03+ SV will be your Fuel Injected ticket. And when youre all learned up and step up to something else, SV's make excellent track bikes. For more propaganda goto svrider.com or sv650.org.

My dealer had the S for around $1000 more. That's fine with me; I prefer the naked version anyway. That was in August last year.
