Ow...No one told me that riding nonstop curves for 2 hours was gonna hurt...

I just got back from my first group ride with PacWest Sportbikes and WOW was that a good time. We headed out into some back roads in the Mt Rainier area that were nothing but twisties connected by short groups of twisties...I think you get the idea. Even the old dude on the Road Star in front of me spent more time sideways than veritical. I was with the new rider group so we were never pushing things but kept a good pace for all, nonetheless. I made the mistake of following the Road Star a bit too much and wound up following his line through a turn...which he ran wide in also... :here: That was the only real scare that I had, since running off into gravel and a ditch at 30 didn't sound like a good time.

Everyone managed to avoid the deer that split our group at the top of one turn even though I think our "fearless leader" nearly threw herself off the bike attempting to indicate the deer to the rest of the group  Overall, it was a good bunch of people and I had a terrific time.

We had one bike show up that several of us were debating whether is should be ridden or SHOT...pic is included below. This guy also showed up in a Wilsons leather (fashion, not riding) jacket with 4in fringe hanging off the entire thing. Amazingly enough he won the First Gear jacket that was raffled off at the end...and to his credit, the first thing he did was swap jackets.

I've always been a "little" in the dark when I've listened to you guys (especially the WOS crew) talk about carrying your speed through a turn and people being slow in turns...The light has been turned on. I got behind some guy on a GSXR that was woefully underskilled for that bike. We were just on some side roads heading to the wrap up barbeque that had several somewhat sharp turns on it and wound up coming through a couple of the turns below him (on the left) because he'd get half way through and...well, I'm not sure WHAT he was doing but he would just loose 80% of his momentum at the apex of the turn....and then we'd get on a straight and he'd fly back up ahead of me. I wasn't TOO irritated :bash: Had to happen twice before I figured it was going to be a habit for him and backed off. :bash:

Anyway, long story short, it was an AWESOME day and I am looking forward to doing this again! A couple of pics below: Me on my bike(now you can SEE the dork you've been talking to for months :p ), the furry bike and a shot of the number of folks that showed up... :dthumb:

Hope you all had a great weekend also!

I was really just playing follow the leader and wasn't watching what roads we took. I'm gonna try to get a copy of the map from the organizer for future reference. We headed south from Fife on I-5 and got off the freeway just south of Tacoma/Ft Lewis, then headed out into back country that I've never seen before and wound up in Centralia. That's as specific as I can be right now thoug :(

Where'd you go riding too today? I was out also this evening, did about only a 100 miles since I didnt have much time cuz of meeting the wife for dinner.. but still it was a good time.

Group rides are always a blast when they are well organized and everybody is on the same page. Glad you had a good time! :dthumb:

Unfortunatlly I had to ride by myself, I thought I was going to meet up with ZX636 today, but he never called back. I headed up north towards RT 209, I was close to the jersey border before I turned back around and headed home, I rode about 150 miles early this morning just piddleing around hershey and in town.

I saw so many harleys and other cruisers out today, but there was a fair amount of sport bike out today also. I hate riding by myself all the time, IT SUCKS!!!

Ughh Gasman! While that sounds like it was a blast, I can't imagine riding that long yet :yikes:

Jeeps: I would have actually liked to have been in the group that guy was in just to see him ride...but they were in the "intermediate" group and apparently that group's leadership couldn't read a map or keep the group together, so I think mine was a better trip...heh

I can sure see that ;) There's just something impressive about watching a line of bikes all dipping into the turns, one after the other plus you've all got something to talk about later ;)

I'm hoping to find a few more of these this summer. I really should have gotten a pic of the poor guy that had to rent a Softtail to make the ride 'cause his Duc was in the shop.... Guy is in full Icon race leathers and trying trying DESPERATELY to figure out how to hang off a Deuce in the turns....:rofl3:

Unfortunately, I am 98% sure this guy was not a stunter...that was part of why it was just so :yikes: The guy looked like he belonged on a poster in the Post Office lobby...
