Ok so ive drag raced it beofre but this Saturday will; be the first official drag race (on a sanctioned and timed NHRA track)

Bike is a '03 Z1000 with a couple light mods.

Times will get posted monday and ill post a timeslip or two within a few days after when i get em scanned.

But id be satisfied w/ a 10.7 even since its the first round out

Im going to Cali for it so i wish i could practice but its hard to do when your bike is at 4500 feet day to day and makes like 30 less hp....cant practice a weak luanch then feel the same later....

but if i get ten five ill get motor work to run a 9 next year for sure..lol

I'm very interested to see what you run, as I have access to one of those beasts myself. Course I'm nowhere near ready to make a 1/4 mile on it!

scott, little confused, have you dragraced on any track before or just not at this particular track....

the drag strip is going to be a lot stickier than the street, so just be prepared...lower your rear tire pressure to 24 to start, and let that big boy pull you out of the hole...bring the revs up to 4-5,000 and just slip the clutch a little and get it to the stops as quick as you can..let that big motor do the work......

best way to get use to a drag strip is just to take off easy the first time and hammer it and run it thought the gears, that will give u a feel for the track, then you can bring up the revs and try a harder launch...your looking for a 1.8 or better 60 foot time...the whole race is in the first 60 feet...

also what is the magazines times for the z1000...that will give u something to shoot for..

Jack-- ive raced the track beofre.. just not with this bike.. the Z1000 hasnt seen a NHRA track yet....
But the event got rained out, so no runs till next week at least.. i rode 200miles here in 36 degree rain to race the night beofre the event only to have em rain it out.....
Magazine times were 10.8's. I want 10.6's with the mods. 10.5 would make me very happy.

As for Exhausts... the difference in power between a 800$ exhaust and a 600$. IE Ti Force and Muzzys, on the same dyno with proper maps for each is in the tenths of HP...Rob Muzzys tested his full 10R system versus Akro on the same dyno on the same bike back tback and the Full akro was .2 HP more with eachs preloaded PC3 map....Akro and Him use diff dynos to post their #'s hence Akros having a more friendly dyno to make it look better. When it comes down to it a TiForce, Scorpion, Muzzy, Yosh or Akro and im sure a few more will be damn similar in numbers...and peak HP means nothing when the rest the range isnt as good as another system.(unless its a track only bike) For most ppl a good full range will make em MUCH faster on the street then a Race can.

No, its still cold here, and i gotta ride through 200 mileso f even colder mountains. I'm just gonna wait till maybe late april when its a better ride over.
Def gonna go this year, but im in the middle of changing jobs and stuff now so much of my ridng may not happen this year.. just MotoGP and a trip or two to the drag strip. Wanted to get osme long rides in but since i wont have PTO now some of my riding will be a year off.
