Well, the long await is over. The bike is done, and I have to go get it, and ride it home. I have a question for the seasoned riders: Your first big rides, were you guys a little nervous? I dont really question my riding ability, its just that its a good 15-20 mile ride home. I feel confident to ride fine, but its like right before the big game or something, I dont know...Is this somewhat normal? :leaving:

BTW my inspection is set for THIS FRIDAY!!! So hopefully I will have a registered bike for this gorgeous weekend, but I have to get her hom first...

Just be safe and don't try anything stupid. Try to avoid heavy traffic areas if possible. Its easier to learn a bike when your not always worried about everybody else. :luck:

You'll be fine...just follow your MSF training. Like Jeeps said, try to stay out of heavy traffic. Take your time and enjoy your ride, and you can stop for a cold beverage along the way so others can admire it...just don't look too foolish staring at it... :dthumb:

Use the force!!
Become one with the bike. :nonod:

And be alert. Stay back of the lead cars and well in front of the one behind you. You owe the other driver nothing so ride your own ride. If you feel crowded give em' a stair. Other than that you will be fine. Dont be over cautious.

Afterthoughts...NO MORE JITTERS!

So, I made it home bike and body unscathed :dthumb: That being said here is a funny story:

I arrive at shop with my temp plate in hand. MY buddy taht drove me there went to look around. I ask them for cardboard or something to mount on the bike, they told me leave the tag at this counter and we will set you up. Go to that counter over there to pay. so I pay my bill and head out the door. Geared up, and headed back home. Following my friend in his car behind him About a third of the way there, I look around and realize I left the plate on the desk at the shop. "OH F^&K" I yell, "I am ridind with no PLATES!!!" :yikes: I signal to my friend and he thinks I am waving at him so he waves back. This goes on for a few stoplights. Next stoplight I do the "signal" (you know from Team America) and he rolls down his window to stick his head out. I made a square using my hands and I hear him mouth the words "OH F^&K!" So I have to turn around and head back. I got the plates on and made it home no Problem. I guess all the exitement got to me and forgot one of the most important things!

That being said, the second time I left the shop, I felt fine. I was so damn nervous the first time home. I mean the bike felt so much different after it was fixed correctly. I needed a good 10 minute ride to remember how to ride. That being said, BRAKES WORK GREAT NOW :D. I had some trouble from a dead start and trying to find where my clutch grips, but after 20 minutes, I had it down. I was well aware of the lead cars, and kept my distance. I saw a few fellow sport bike riders, and they all waved and I waved back. I was suprised that all the HOG's on the road werent leaving much room in between lanes, I had no emergency exit path unless I sped up or slowed down with them around. OH well. Once I got around to my neighborhood where it was familiar, I had no worries. I also realized that from 1st to 2nd, I need to shift faster so the RPM's stay up there for a smoother shift. I set my appointment up for Friday so hopefully I pass and the weekend will be fun riding. Did I mention that the weather here just got beautiful?!?!? Thats guys for the words of wisdom. I will be sooooo happy to start making more threads in the General Riding Forum instead of the Maintenance Forum :D
