A guy on the WOS board was thinking of using these guys for a bent wheel. I'm not sure about this whole idea. They definately seem like they know what they are doing and they are even local for us Michigan guys.

What do you guys think!

I have done it for resale on a bike I trashed. I only test rode it afterwards, so no long term reviews. I don't know what happened to the bike after I sold it.

I told him it was wrecked hard and rebuilt as the law requires. It already had a salvage title when I got it. :dthumb:

the before and after pics of those bent/broken wheels is pretty amazing...job looks good also. i guess there as good as new but you never know....its amazing how much damage a wheel can take, you would think it would just break up....

I would be suspicious of the structural integrity and stability. Metal will always be weaker if it is bent out of place and then bent back… I didn’t see anything about reinforcing the frame or tires afterwards… So I wonder…

Well I have trust issues, and this doesnt fly well with me. I would rather spend the money on a new rim then a fixed one. The effects of the repaired rim failing doesnt sound fun.
Could be a repeat of how it got damaged in the first place. :tt:

We use MC wheel in New Hampshire. For frames, GMD computrack in Atlanta. They both do excellent work.
Yeah but have you had this type of work done???

One of my buddies used ( Frame Straight System )them to fix the neck of the frame on his 929(bike hit a wall head on @ about 25mph) and has not had any problems with the frame that was atleast 3 years ago,but the wheel they also welded it was cracked and bent and it did not hold air had some pin holes in the rim from them welding it but whatever do what you got to do i guess :2cents:

That's interesting Hinks!

So the frame held up and the rim didn't??!! You think that the pin holes would be a issue that they would not have...um, last time I checked...everybody needs their rims to hold air pressure?

Was this the same place as the link above???

yes, we've had bent rims fixed and frames straightened. Both of these companies do excellent work. They will also tell you if they can't safely repair the item (which they have told us before). If it's so far gone that it would be unsafe or too expensive to fix, they let you know.

If you're looking for frame straightening, only use Atlanta for GMD. They do the best work and are the best to deal with. MC Wheel is awesome for wheel straightening. Racers are cheap and many want this done instead of buying new ones. We've had excellent results.
