If your water pump has a "telltale hole", check it to see if there's any leakage. Probably should also change oil. On my Honda, take off the water pump to drain, then replace o-rings. Don't use an antifreeze with silica, like Peak. Avoid spilling it on painted surfaces. Add engine oil. Read your manual on how to bleed out the air. Done. :2cents:

Typical guidelines (general motorcycle) are: use drain hole to get out coolant, open high point in coolant system. After draining has slowed, rock bike side to side to get the crevices emptied. Empty and clean resevoir.

Remove thermostat but replace the cap and high point "plug". Hook flusing unit to water inlet, and return to water outlet; usually done at the pump. Flush.

Put thermostat back in, inlet/outlet lines back on. Fill radiator, rock side to side as you go to ensure filling. When radiator is full, fill resevoir and warm bike up. Sometime opening a high point on the thermostat is done to ensure no trapped air is there. Shut down bike and when cool, refill radiator and resevoir as needed. This latter step probably should be checked for the next ride or two at least.

To my knowledge, there isn't much of a shortcut you can do unless you decide not to FLUSH the bike. Probably not as big a deal with newer bikes as it is with older ones.
