This is a major concern to me because I am 23 and I guess in that same generation. I know when they're old enough to run the country, I'll still be around. High school history and government education just plain out isn't well informed and I really didn't learn much in high school. Everything I learned about history and politics, I learned in college either in classes or on my own. I didn't even become involved in politics until I was 20 or 21. There is a lot of apathy in young voters too. I mean look at the whole Rock the Vote that was targeted to my generation and yet we still had the lowest turnout :nonod: Simple things are taken advantage of and my fear is taht one day they will be gone and we'll be the third world country you see on the paid programs. :disapp:

I have to agree with you Shan. I remember how I used to look at things growing up and how I do today. A bit of a difference.

Yeah, today you realize that nothing is free and that everything has a higher price than just money.

It's getting worse and worse every year. The kids today don't know anything, due in large part to their parents being total idiots.

I'm all for free speech, however, I really think you should have to have a license to have kids. Seriously, it's unbelievable.

acording to my history teacher that isnt to far off and will come in a shorter amount of time then you think :nonod:

In Iraq the people voted even though they were threatened with being killed if they did. Here the right to vote is one of our original freedoms and many people take it for granted.

Im not that old, but in HS we were much more savy about out rights and responsibilities than HS kids today. What can i say... kids today are much better entertained today than before. As long as thier plesantly distracted, they dont care whats happening or not happening.
And many parents allow the distraction. I know parents that dont want thier kids watching the news, fearing it will cause them stress or fear. :skep: And teachers at public schools are on a short leach out of fear of being accused of indocturnating young minds. (my spelling is horrible but i hope you get it)... seen the playground equipment lately? Plastic and stupid proof. Some welded steel jungle gyms and concrete sewer pipe to play on will bring reality home.

thats what i like about my history teacher he doesnt really act as if on a leash and he talks about everything (he isnt a great WORLD history teacher he talks about current stuff)

and like this past month a LOT of **** has happened to my innocent town CERES !!!!!

1) sophmore killed in car crash
2) friends dad brutial murdered
3) gang member unloads on two cops killing one and criticaly injering the other
4) in school today there was three gun shots like across the street and our school whent to a lock down
5)since the friken gang member stuff there are a bunch of gang anger to WHITE poeple and racial stuff

i guess you cant understand this unless you live here but this all together is more then EVER happened in this town even though we are near modesto but gangs are starting to take over and i thought they were a joke before
