ok i got a zx636. stock gearing is 15 front and i think 40 rear. its ok but i want a little bit more down low. what do you guys think of a 14 front. how bad do you think it will hurt my top speed. i keep hearing ppl going -1 front and +2 rear but that has to hurt top speed. plus i dont want the thing to go 12 oclock if a slam the throttle in 2nd gear.

down one in the front is like 20 bucks. and you might have tot take a link out.
yeah but i dont know how to mess with the chain and stuff so i might have to have it done how much you think it would be over all to give it to suzuki and have them do it

and if i did that would i FEEL the diff. a lot or no??

I went down 1 in the front and 2 up in the rear cause my gsxr750 just felt weak compared to my 1100, im not sure what the top speed was, i know it was still over 140 and it felt so much quicker it was worth losing the top end....

if your looking to go 160 plus then get a bigger bike...i say go for the 1 down in the front and 2 up in the rear...it will be like a new bike....the chain should be ok, if its in good shape now, it sort of evens out when u do the 1down/2up......

thats what everyone is saying -1 front +2 rear. i just dont know if i want that much pull. i wish i would drive a biek with that gearing. o and a 636 will do 160. i just still want my top speed around 150. plus with the gearing. the speedo could say 140 and you could actually only be doing 110.

I dropped one in the front last year and it gave me about a -10 mph at the higher speeds( 130-140 on the speedo) in sixth gear on the straights at the track.

Helped me get in a better power band for the F4i on turn exit.

Hope this helps. :2cents:

Just get the -1 front and ride it.
If you want more get 2+ rear and ride it.
If its to much , put the stock back on the front and ride it.
Then you will know what you like and only be out the price for the front if its to much.
As for the top end, You will not notice -1 unless you race it top speed.
If you do both, you will loss some. Just weigh out what you want more.

If you are going to get both, get it now!

First off, the -1 in the front will have a noticable change in the bike's performence... Do that then look at the +2 in the rear...

Second and most important!! BULL YOU NEED A -1 IN THE FRONT LIKE I NEED ANOTHER HOLE IN MY HEAD!!! :wtf: are you thinking!! Just ride it and try not to kill yourself!! Kids these days... :nonod:

Listen Bull.... you aren't going to pull that junk over my eyes...maybe your mom's but not mine!!!!

Use self control to stay away from the top end!! Then just leave the gearing alone!!! You've been riding for what... 2 weeks!!! :bash: YOU DON'T NEED TO TOUCH IT!!!

You just said the other day, about all the torque your bike has! So just leave it alone... you -1 in the front and you're going to loop it!!

Besides, after the tire thing...you should be grounded from the bike!! :nonod:

The -1 on the front and a standard rear is a common kit available on e-bay or buy it direct from an on-line store. Should be around $150.

Make sure you have or can get ahold of chain breaking and riveting tools before you do the swap. :bash:

You most likely will not notice the top end loss if you are riding a lot of twisties or a mostly technical track. :2cents:

ok what is the differecne if i just go -1 in the front and stock rear, or if i go stock front and +2 rear. i dont think there would be a difference but let me know. and i have to agree with everyone with the NO -1 bull, the v twin has a smother torque. i am doing it cause my bike is made to rev at like 10k rpm the lower rpms on my bike are basically for crusing, i just wnat a little more get up and go. i would say ride it a little longer and if you still feel that it needs geared then do it, but i would not pay someone to gear it for you so if you cant do it yourself i wouldent do it, a shop is gonna charge minimum $50 an hour labor and then take 2 hours to change it. so it aint even worth it.

2+ at rear should be just a little less than -1 front. 3+ rear little more. Very little!
I think you would have to run the drag on a test and tune day/night to find the difference.
